Is there a way to recover stuff from a HD?

    One of my Hardrive got corrunt or broke, and there are documents that I need from it, I run a PC with Window XP sp2, and the HD is a IDE drive, is there a program that allow me to recover stuff from it?

    I placed the HD into another PC, and can see one of the two partition but the other one that I need to access, I can see it in my computer, but cannot access it, which program out of those is the best for my situation?
    I only need about two folder from it.

    The one you can see but not access--what is the error message? If you right-click it and select properties what comes up for FileSystem:, and Space Used/Available?

    Cannot access E:// file or directory broken, cannot read
    When I click property on it, it shows zero space used and available.

    Someone else recomended testdisk, I tried it, and it didn't do anything.
