Noticed I had AceSpy 3.8 and am unable to get rid of it. CA anti spy found it while Windows defender did not. However, CA can not quarantine AceSpy. I contacted AceSpy company complaining (found on a search on the web) and they gave me instructions to adjust computer to show hidden files and folders and then look in ProgramData, find it and then said how to fix it. However, it does not show up in ProgramData, but CA antispy from Yahoo SBC DSl continues to find it. The program apparently is sold to allow one to spy on activites of others using the same computer. But I've picked it up downloading free stuff I think.

How can I get rid of it??? Please help. It does not seem to be hurting anything but it worries me that I can't get rid of it.

Thanks for the response. How can a false positive exist and why?? I don't know how to obtain a log. CA just said Ace Spy 3.8. No one has had access to this computer to install such a thing. Is it anything to worry about?

By a program that thinks something is a problem when it is not. Sometimes it is due to the software developers not removing things from the detections list because no one reports to them that they are wrong and also because they do not properly test their own application for false detections.

I cannot help you with getting a log since I don't have and never have used their program. You will have to look thru help within the program. Any scanner that does not provide a log is not a proper scanner.

Then like in the other thread, it is most likely a false positive and it is probably the same registry keys mentioned in that thread. An update to CA is probably causing these false detections. If they are the same keys as in the other thread then there is nothing to worry about. You would need to report these to CA as false detections.
