Updated drivers needed for: IDE ATA/ATAPI, USB controllers & fax modem driver

    Windows XP SP3 will have updated drivers for most of these devices.

    :) Thank you. I had everything backed up so I reformatted the hard drive. I didn't know there was an SP3; I have WIN XP SP2.

    Make sure that your system is free of junk and malware, take a full system backup, shut down your active security systems, then install SP3 via http://www.update.microsoft.com/. The install should take about 30-40 minutes, and the system will be noticeably faster after this. (Make sure you defragment after the reboot.)

    I need the USB controller driver, too. I am running windows 7 pro with Intel Core i7-2600K cpu@3.40GHz
    any help would be greatly appreciated.

    This thread is nearly nine years old so, you should have started a new thread. But, in your case, IOBit's Driver Booster may help you.
