Flashing on screen when I turn - New game AoC

So I am playing a new mmo called The Age of Conan and am getting some strange flashes when I turn in some areas. If I pause on one of these flashes it's a bugged out view of water, sky or it may just show water, although it looks buggy, but the boats are gone.

Now if I move my character it goes away but then it comes back again a few minutes later or some times and continues for a bit.

I also am getting pretty bad fps with the game. Here is a link to the game's Reqs:

This is my rig:

HP Pavilion
xp
AMD Athlon 3400+
2 gigs of RAM
7950 gt

Now I have bought a AMD Athlon 4000+ so perhaps that will help. It also should be noted that this flashing was not always occuring. For the first week it was not there, though the fps still around 10-60. The fps is lower in the cities where players are. I also have the latest drivers, have unistalled the game, and have no virus according to AVG.

How's your connection to the game server, and does the flashing change in any way if you change up the game's graphics options?

 

The connection is broadband, roadrunner I think, and is strong. If I play around with the graphics I can get better fps on very low settings but not too much difference. This does not solve the flashing. Also with this rig I can play almost anygame out there i.e. Crysis, WoW, Bioshock, etc. on high settings so just can't figure this one out

A RL pal of mine has strange graphics things happening while playing Conan as well... but very different from what you are seeing. What does the game's tech support forum have to say on the matter?

 

No there tech forums are horrible and mainly just players trying to help out. They said to try 2.0 shaders but that did not work.

What happens is you roll back a graphics driver? Granted, the game is resource heavy, but with what you posted, you should be able to run it, not to mention that you can run Crysis, so I doubt this is a hardware issue.

 

You know I have tried some past drivers and some of those make it really, really bad. I downloaded one driver, 169 or something from thie Omega site and the who game looked like it was on acid lol. I am upgrading my processor from a 3400+ to a 4000+ today so maybe that will help. I am thinking it's on their end and not the players.

Cimmeria and I have tried all sorts of settings to no avail

 

Yeah having a blast too! Cimmeria is a RPPVP server so I get to enjoy the pvp goodness also. I'm a lvl 28 DT. Just got to figure out how to get better FPS and stop this flashing, although it seems to be getting a little better.

 

So added another hard drive, updated processor to amd athlon 4000+ and flashed my bios. All of this has gotten rid of the flashing and the game run's much, much smoother.
