Ok, anyone else notice that this women has had multiple neck and back surgeries, yet is capable of carrying 20 pounds on her shoulder? Ok, if your in even fair shape, go get a 20 pound dumbell and set it on your shoulder for a few minutes, let us know if that hurts.

Are potheads all this stupid? Really?

A dumbell with claws and craps. A pound a month... must need to be on dope 24/7.

I have also had neck and back (hips too) surgery, i live on pain killers and can assure anyone that it's not only difficult but dangerous to have that weight especially on one side of your body constantly.

maybe pot dulls the pain but i think it's also scrambling the brains.

come on 20lbs is nothing but too my mother it is because she has a bad neck, back, knees and so much more.. but also good pain killers like that does give you a false hope making you able to do things like that trust me look at my mother she don't use pot but the pain killers she took before would do that to her and beleave me she paid for it by not being able to get out of bed for a week.

also only reason weed is illegal is because the gov can't control it.

Everybody has different pain thresholds but 1/2 an ounce a day, that's quite mind boggling. The genetically modified strains we have now are not the Mexican we used to get in the seventies, way, way more powerful! Just like anything, she's too used to the pot, maybe switch with painkillers to be more effective.

At least she doesn't have a monkey on her back.

I'm one of those that think it should be legalized and taxed, for what it's worth.

Unfortunately, that's just the reason that it won't ever be legal. The government can make more money seizing the property of users than they can taxing weed because people can easily grow it in their backyard.

So let's just say it is legalized. (I don't partake, but think it should be legal and taxed). I can see it now... Senate hearings: Big Tobacco shows up, Big Stoner overslept.

Big Tobacco is with their legal team. Big Stoner is out looking for a killer sausage and bisquit.:-D

Bonus points if you can tell me what movie this is from without Google...

Zeks: Hey, do we have any of that Plutonian Nyborg left?
Edsel: Uh, yeah. Just one bag. Uh, it's in the transmitter compartment.
    Zeks: Thanks, man.
Zeks: Oh, great. Think this is enough?
Edsel: Uhh... nah. Go for broke.
    Zeks: Good thinking, man.

Yeah, but they'll blow their entire stimulas check in a resturant, and on some killer weed! It's good for the economy!

I have that on VHS somewhere lol. I may have to pull it out now that you've jogged my memory.

I think a big reason its not legalized is not goverment control or taxation, it's HUGE BIG drug companies that don't want you using a cheap cureall to a lot of problems instead of purchasing multiple WAY OVERPRICED engineered BS drugs.

Here buy this pill for this problem, these two for your other problems, and these other 5 just because. Too much money in pharmasudicals(sp?) these days. If they legalized pot I'm betting 50% of that industry would go away overnight.

Add to that the pills one needs to counteract the side effects. Plus, they can't patent pot/THC so there's nothing in it for them.

The California Supreme Court just passed that instead of counties deciding the amount it will now be up to the doctors who issue the recommendations.

Thats a good call and how it should be. Only down side is I doubt most doctors care how much their patients want to do.

Most doctors won't have anything to do with marijuana, medical or other wise. There are a few that do only marijuana recommendations .

    A 1/2 oz a day ! I call Bulls#$%...

I am an everyday smoker( yup thats right even just now:-D) and her claim of being able to smoke a 1/2 oz a day is crap-- hard as I try (bong-vaporizer-joints) I can still only clear 1/2 oz a week and my friends who smoke think I am the pothead.:cool

I have been a medical patient - lower back problems and familial tremor-- so I am for legalization (even tho I have not been hassled since I got my doctors recommendation.) I still go to work M-F and have a social life. I support my own habit/supply--- I live in N Cal and we can grow 6 outdoors or 33 indoors or a 10x10 foliage area and that is more than enough for anybody, well except for her. LOL

The reason that marijuana is not legal is because it is a plant and as such you cannot patent a plant unless it is a proprietary strain(the creator already did it) This is a good thing!.

Do we really want phizer brand thc pills at your local drug store.
Number of deaths caused by Marijuana -------- 0

It's come a long way. Blows me away to see police hand out tickets or do nothing at all after also seeing in the 60's how someone could get sent away for years and basically ruin their lives over a roach or a few seeds. Yep a long way indeed.

I stayed out of this for awhile, but all good things come to an end, LOL
I am for legalization of marijuana for two reasons.
One, it IS a great pain reliever/sleep aide/tranquilizer/stomach settler/hunger creator.
How many pills would be prescribed for someone who had need for all those?
Would those pills have the years of testing that a lot of pot smokers have put marijuana through?
Yes, I once indulged but never inhaled. (a lot of years spent not inhaling) LOL
Pot does affect you, but I personally don't believe the affects are long-lasting or permanent, so there is no danger physically, like many of the meds now prescribed.

My second reason is that legalizing marijuana takes some of the power away from drug companies that seem to have us over a barrel, with the cost of some meds, the way that they are able to push some barely tested drugs on us, which have side effects worse than the ailments they cure. If a simple herb can relieve so many symptoms by itself and reduce the use of some potentially dangerous "legal" drugs, the dependency on the drug companies would be lessened and their power over government, also.(And I think there is way too much power given to everyone (corporations and gov't agencies), and too little to us people)
It also takes away some of the pressure on our legal systems, jails and prisons. It would also cut down on the costs created in trying to stop the import of it. (Yes, I know it's not the only drug being brought into the country)

Control of it wouldn't be any more of a problem then it is now. Folks are going to do, what they're going to do. So the adults that use it regularly now, wouldn't be any more of a problem. Some sort of GOOD test would have to be developed to catch drivers who were actually stoned. (THC stays in your system for up to 30 days, as opposed to most pharmaceuticals, which clean out in less than 3 days, or alcohol which is around 12 hours, I think.)

Worried about your kids or grand kids? Me, too, but if they want to to get it, they are going to get it. Whether it is legal or not, it is available to them. Only good parenting and good awareness education can help prevent that. No different than teaching them to be responsible with alcohol.

Oh yeah, back to the topic.
35 ounces is a heck of a lot for an 8 week (60 days) supply. Even at my most extreme stoner period, an ounce a week was like totally way out there, man. ;)

    I'm done. ;)

I am coming from the point of view of an ex-heavy smoker. I made the Dean's List while in college and smoking heavy. I worked my way up from a common woodworker to being a skilled cabinetmaker, while still smoking and retaining all my fingers. I quit smoking about 10 years ago.
I started learning more about computers, about 5 years ago and have progressed from a complete n00b, to knowing a good amount, mostly all self taught. I have as much of my faculty's as any normal man my age, maybe more.
Year's ago I read a report that stated two teens, drank two fifth's of JD and smoked a joint, then killed someone. That was blamed on the joint, not the alcohol. I look at most reports as having that same view. You can search all day long and find good vs. bad about marijuana. I'm not sure if there has been a completely neutral research ever done. It's either done by pro- or anti-marijuana groups.
I'm not advocating for someone to go out and start. Getting high is a waste of time, now that I look back.
I'm just saying it is not the evil weed it has been portrayed as, since Harry Anslinger convinced the government it was dangerous back in the '20's or 30's.

    Thank you, Darlene.
I just feel that some choices need to be ours, not the gov't's or the big businesses.

I smoked when I was young with small children for the simple fact that if there were an emergency I would still have all my faculties and be able to function, not in the case of alcohol, and anything else has always been out of the question to me. (hard drugs)
I would always put them to bed before I did also. That was in the early sixties. Later on it became too strong for me coming in from all over the world during the Vietnam war. No matter how strong it becomes it will never equal the stupor obtained from booz.

    Harry J. Anslinger
    Bureau of Narcotics 1930

"There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos, and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz, and swing, result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers, and any others."

"...the primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races."

"Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death."

"Reefer makes darkies think they're as good as white men."

"Marihuana leads to pacifism and communist brainwashing"

"You smoke a joint and you're likely to kill your brother."

"Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind."

Anslinger was an extremely ambitious man, and he recognized the Bureau of Narcotics as an amazing career opportunity -- a new government agency with the opportunity to define both the problem and the solution. He immediately realized that opiates and cocaine wouldn't be enough to help build his agency, so he latched on to marijuana and started to work on making it illegal at the federal level.

Thank you, Darlene. I was too lazy to look for that info. Look at the quotes, many are still used today to show the Evilness of marijuana. Anslinger was a career motivated, power hungry man, who apparently was a racist, also.
When creating laws, personal beliefs should never be the motivation. Documented facts should be. But because of the fact that we live in a free society, documented facts are not always the real facts.
I knew some college guys that did research into the effects of marijuana (can;'t we just call it pot? So much easier to type. LOL) They found that a monkey's brain waves changed drastically, while using pot. This was published. What wasn't published was the fact that the monkey's brain waves returned to normal, within 10 hours.
How can brain damage be determined to be the sole responsibility of pot, when there are so many things in our lives and enviroment that can do the same thing. Mercury in Lake Michigan, cyanide in cigarettes, the many different solvents i used when I was a painter, aluminum cans (alzheimer's linked), the list goes on and on. Yet, just watch a pharmaceutical drug commercial or read the side effects in a pamphlet. Side effects are usually worse than the ailment. I take as few as I can, because if they cause side effects that are considerably dangerous, why take the risk?

Please, don't get me wrong, anyone. All the stero-typed movies, characters and traits of a pot smoker are basically true.
Remember, ""This is your brain. This is your brain on drugs."? I always said, "I'll take mine scrambled", because it was.roflmao

The main point that I am trying to make is pot has a valid medical use. Yes, there needs to a set amount that a patient should be allowed, but it should be a decision made between the doctor and patient, not made by law enforcement and the whackos as bad as Harry Anslinger or Timothy Leary.

Pot it is. I can relate to the monkey, I remember epiphanies, "oh it's so clear now" then later it was, now what was that?" Maybe thats where the memory loss comes in.

I had to chime in on this one!

There was a great documentary on Showtime On Demand we ordered not too long ago called "In Pot We Trust" and it was on medical marijuana and had patients talk about their use. It was an amazing documentary and I learned quite a bit, which was cool because I consider myself pretty dang knowledgeable when it comes to pot. There is a link to their site. I thought it was extremely important and informative and have been trying to get my mother to smoke for her degenerative arthritis. Unfortunatly we live in Iowa so there is no medical use laws and the penalties are inappropriately harsh for the pot user, recreational or otherwise.

    http://www.medicalcannabis.com/documentary.htm

There is also an entertaining yet VERY informative one on pot in general that tends to go over well with those of us who are "recreational" users. It's called Grass and is narrated by Woody Harrelson. :-D

    http://worldfilm.about.com/library/00nowplaying/blgrass.htm

Anyways, just thought I'd chime in. (I'm trying to be a little more social)
