    Dude, you crack me up.

Kes, those flowers are really pretty. What are those big spikey ones?

Just adding some pictures from my garden last summer... my house is mostly in shade, so we don't have as many brightly colored flowers. It's very dark green and leafy jungly, with some hidden flowers here and there, and stone sculptures and things. I like the design of gardening even more than the actual gardening itself!

I got this guy as a present from my neighbors. He doesn't really go with the garden, but I like him anyway:

There's one spot generally sunny enough to grow tomatoes, and here they are, still very green:

One of the many statues -- I've always liked the lighting on it:

Thanks for the welcome, Mankind! I like the "leftovers" picture... the different heights of the plants are perfect for that space, I think. Sort of tapers in height as well as in space. (did that make any sense? rolleyes)

@Paramonks: I looove the Yellow Poker. So colorful! I think I need more yellow in my garden, I've decided. I have mostly pinks and reds and green, now that the daffodils are gone. Also -- jealousyx10000 at your roses. My garden is way too shady for roses... At some point I'm going to set up a lattice over the garden shed and see if I can get some wild roses to grow over the roof, which is high enough/in a clear enough spot to actually get some sun.

@Darlene: thanks! I love the jasmine -- one of my favorite flowers! I recently planted a bunch of it for a friend, and after it sort of sat there for a week recovering, it suddenly exploded and seemed to be practically doubling in size every few days. Love that stuff.

Whoa! Beautiful pics. Kes! I'd post some of mine, but all I have is some Roses, Lavender, Lemon, Mandarin trees. Mostly hidden by winter weeds:eek:. I know, I'm a sado! rolleyes Big(ish) gardens, I have - but time to keep them, I don't.

Also real nice pics from you other folks. Thanks for reminding me I need to cut the grass and plants, or send out the Jungle patrol. :major

I just looked out back and realized that my lilacs are done blooming :(

I got lots of blooms for the house (despite my allergies) but no piccies.... ah well

Someday, I will have my own house and I will have a gorgeous garden.

My parents' neighbors' garden is chock full of delphiniums, Kes, they're gorgeous. Have you tried growing them yet, or is it that you're having trouble?

The lupins are gorgeous. I have a pic from a botanical garden in Victoria that's very similar to that picture with the bumblebee... I'll have to find it when I get home, and rummage through my 40 gazillion flower pictures. LOL

"Root"ing through... terrible pun, terrible! Shame on you. LOL

You should try hydrangeas too, if you never have... they're so cool and unique/weird/pretty-looking.

What color are yours? Acidic or basic soil? :) (The science nerd in me LOVES that about hydrangeas.)

Uh oh. Check for garden gnomes while you're out there. Disappearing plants would be quite the epidemic.

Interesting augie, don't think I've ever seen wild or regular for that matter, which is odd being I used to live near Gilroy, Ca. garlic capitol of the world. I believe thats where the garlic festivals started.
I stuck some garlic from my cupboard the was sprouting in with the tomato plants, nothing yet.

Hey MK, just wanted to say that the new plants look really good! I spent a good chunk of the weekend (finally, some NICE WEATHER) at my mum's weeding and planting, as that's the only place I can these days... at my apartment, we have a few pots of basil out at the back window, and that's all we've got room/sun for. Sigh.

But anyway -- lemon cucumber? I've never heard of that.

  23. Azulala

    Azulala Private First Class

Wow, they look kind of like a tomato... How bizarre, I've never heard of them at all. I wonder if they ever sell them at grocery stores... They sound tasty! Wish I had enough sun to grow veggies. :(

  24. Azulala

    Azulala Private First Class

Well, I live in an apartment that's mostly in the shade... so no yard. I could in theory carry a pot outside and put it in the middle of the lawn, but it'd so get stolen or something while I'm at work. ;) And at my parents' house, which is where I do most of my gardening, they live in a forest so the best you can get there is partial sun even at high summer... There's one spot where my mother can grow her tomatoes, by moving a pot back and forth to follow the sun as it moves. :p

Try putting containers of beer out, it attracts them then they drown, non-toxic. :)[/QUOTE]

Put the containers of beer on ice and you may attract more than snails... :wine

Kestrel, that is one heck of a garden!

Wow, you have certainly got a green thumb there, Kes. Beautiful flowers, (love the Lupins), and great veggie patch. ~ I'd say I have a veggie patch, but I don't think weeds count as a vegetable.

Silks, I know some people think they're tacky but buy the right ones and shape them to mimic the real ones and you can't tell the difference. I worked for a while at a shop that was silks only, we made trees too, people were amazed how real they looked.

I had to put all my house plants outside they had little flies of some sort and kept getting worse, so indoors for me from now on is silks.

silks, these are tropical but nice looking, by putting them in pots or planters you would real ones helps the illusion, sticks, stakes anything you would use in a real one. The big trick is to bend the leaves make them look as though they're growing whether you choose flowers, ivy, philodendron etc. theres even artificial rocks

I finally have a couple more pics. It has been a pretty cool spring here. We just had (hopefully) our last frost warning, Friday.
My roses are just putting out their first buds.

Oh, believe me, me too. Hence my suggestion of using it to drown snails in, in response to the idea of crying over the wasted beer. Use Bud, and then it's no waste. Finally, a good use for it. LOL

OK, this aint's exactly about plants per se but I caught the first gopher! :celebrate There's two in total and this one didn't look pregnant, maybe there's some offspring (shudders) already there. My friend is moving it some 5 miles away to a really wooded area. I hope we have as good of luck on the next one, as this only took from 11PM 'til my friend checked just a little while ago.

    Woooohoooooo!!!!!!

They are real pests and not just to plants and roots. They burrowed down to my well's water pipe and it nearly froze this winter, thankfully we got the water going again.

Oh, wow, I never knew that could happen. Was it just that the cold could get down their more easily through the air/negative space in the tunnel, than it would through the soil? :confused
