New game Legend: Hand of God, like Diablo II?

Hey, I've been sort of on the lookout for a new PC game... I still really like Diablo II, and go back and play it sometimes, and I also like Titan Quest (don't know if any of you played that?) but I've been trying to find something new. I saw this link to a first impressions thing for this new game "Legend: Hand of God" that looks like it could be cool, the graphics look pretty phenomenal (my only beef with the old Diablo games now). It's coming from THQ anyway, who did Titan quest I think, and I liked that game... anyone heard anything about this? :confused

Interesting. I enjoyed Sacred and Underworld more than the Diablo's but this looks fun too.

 

Yeah, I hadn't heard of this game either until I saw this link. Looks like it's supposed to come out in August. Apparently it's written by the same writer who did Gears of War and Bioshock... my roommate heard about that and flipped out, she's a huge Bioshock fan. It looks like they're taking the good aspects of previous point-and-click RPGs and adding some new elements like different attack animations depending on the size of the enemy, and that whole dynamic light source thing, which I think I'll have to see to fully understand, but it sounds cool.

Boo, I wanna try it out now, don't want to wait for August. It's sad that there's not as many good RPGs of this sort out... will just have to be patient!

 

Bioshock was awesome... except the ending totally blew. I only harvest 2 little sisters, then I saved the rest, but at the end, Tenenbaum gets all pissed off at you. Lame...

Anyhow, I wish there were more of these type of games, too. Maybe Diablo III will come out in 5 years. I do not like World of Warcraft :/ I played Guild Wars for a bit, but I got level 20 (the max) and then I kept playing and playing and for some reason it just got old. Generally these type of games are fun to play over and over, but I just have no urge to play Guild Wars anymore. I definitely like that it didn't require a fee like World of Warcraft, though. I think it's BS that you have to pay a monthly fee AND buy the game. They could at least give you the game for free...

 

Yeah, I have no idea if Legend is going to have a multiplayer aspect or not. If so I expect it'll be like Titan Quest -- from the demos and stuff it looks like the gameplay's going to be similar but a few steps further, which is great because the TQ gameplay rooocks. but yeah, I bet if it has it it'll be through LAN, rather than some stupid subscription. I play WoW, but only because it's a way to hang out with some overseas friends. I like the singleplayer RPGs better for real gaming, which is why I'm looking forward to this one

Both are fantastic, online, and multiplayer. Mythos is made by the people that made Diablo (it might still be in beta but keep an eye on it).

 

I play Dungeon Runners, and love it. It's made by the company behind Guild Wars, so has a solid tech basis, and the gameplay is very simple and fun. The community on server 4 is great too

 

Ok, I've heard that in terms of character building in Legend it's not just choosing between warrior, magician or hybrid, but that there's a bunch of different secondary classes that you can make by combining two primary classes... so like you choose the warrior and healing paths and become a paladin. That definitely makes it even better... only getting two class decisions would've been lame.

I'll check into those links, Jamiko, maybe it'll tide me over until August when Legend comes out. I'd neve rheard of Dungeon Runners, Mimsy... is it a monthly fee type thing? :confused

 

Both games I linked (Dungeon Runners and Mythos) are free. No cost to buy, and no monthly fees. I've played them both and it is hard to believe they are free. Very fun.

 

OMG!! So I just watched the trailer for the gameplay of Legend -- it's ****ing AWESOME. It's got a lot of the good stuff from TQ, but it looks like THQ has taken it several steps beyond that -- watch the orc takedown, and then later, look at the finishing blow on that zombie! :yum It looks so much fun!

The bit at the end with using the whole dynamic light source thing is really, really cool... I'm liking what I'm seeing! :-D

 

Ok, sorry for the double-post, but I had to bump this up now that I've played it. It's actually really good, better than I was expecting. The gameplay lives up to the trailers, and the story is way better than the PC RPG fantasy type of game usually is. Call me a wimp if you want for the story aspect, but that combined with the gameplay is enough for me. The graphics are pretty hot too, though I was playing on my dinky laptop this past week and had to turn them down a bit. On my desktop PC they look phenomenal though, I'm going to start a new game there.

Poking around yielded some contests --though I already own the game now, so here, and good luck! :-D The mouse that goes with the contest is actually really nice... I may enter just for that! I'm glad I bought my copy though, it's been really fun.

In your opinion, do you think Diablo 3 will be free (no monthly fee) but a simple buying price. I hope it will not be like World of Warcraft. Yesterday, Blizzard announced the new diablo 3 skills. it seems that the skills system will be really different than the first Diablo 2.
