My wife and I are lucky enough to be going to get a 4D scan of our unborn baby at 28 weeks and the company are going to give us a DVD of the images.
They suggest that we supply a couple of music tracks to accompany the DVD - which they will then include on the finished product.

We have a couple of songs in mind and have the original CD's here, but unsure where to start.
I have WinXP Desktop SP3 with DVD RW drive.

We have until this sunday to get these tracks onto a CD. Can anyone help me out? :)

Can I just say Awwwwww!!! Thats great, G.

Are you asking how to burn the songs onto CD? I take it you don't use your computer for music?

Do you have any sort of music software on your computer? Roxio, Windows Media Player, Realplayer, etc.?

Probably the easiest thing to do would be to rip the songs from the cd's using Windows Media Player, then (depending on which version of WMP you have and a cd burner) you can then burn the songs you want onto a cd using WMP.

If you have WMP 11 the options to Rip and Burn are tabbed at the top, making them very easy to find and use.

    Hi Laura and Dya :wave
Thanks for you kind offer to help out.
I am in the process of downloading Windows Media Player 11 now, so just need to try and rip (is this when you copy) to the hard drive, then burn to blank CD.
I hope i have this right?

For some odd reason I couldn't get WMP 11 to install, so I guess I have version 9 or something, which is fine because I have now ripped a few cd's in to the library. Picked 3 songs from the Library and now ready to try burning on to a blank CD. Any formatting needing done here?

We have found one of the tunes on Youtube :) Is there any way to copy that tune to WMP?
    Thanks

Yes, but it takes a little work. And another app or add-on for your browser.

    I don't like work :(
I don't mind having to pay for it online.

Hmm, if you buy the song online it might be DRM'd so you won't be able to copy it AFAIK. I hope someone better in the know can clarify this.

Grumbles, congrats on the soon to be new addition to your family. :)

Do you mind beginning again? You ripped the songs to your library from CD. I'm not sure where the online and YouTube questions come into the picture.

In My Documents/My Music you should find folders with your songs from the CD. You could burn these files to CD as data files. The Picture/CD production company should be able to use them in this format. Could you call them and ask them how they prefer the music audio or data CD?

    Thanks for the congrats :)
My wife wants a song to be added to the CD I have to give to the company - we cannot get this record in shops here (this would be the simple answer). She saw it on Youtube and now expects me to be able to d/l the song and then burn to CD here rolleyes.
Following previous instruction from nice people here, I have managed to rip 1 tune to WMP Library and now only need to find out how to get this online one into the Library too.
I tried Napster, but they want my credit card details etc - no point as I only want this one song :)
    The song is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNasRftKCNA
Picture it with the 4D images of a 27 week old baby in Mummy's tummy :)

Thanks Augie. I figured out what AFAIK means, but still stumped on the DRM?
Is this a digital read media term?

DRM means digital rights management. That means the music company owns the digital media and you have no rights <sigh>. You might be able to pay for it, download it to one computer, listen to it on there and then if you try and do anything else to it like burn it to a CD so you an play it in the car, you are considered a criminal. (You bought the song but it has enormous strings attached.)

Thanks to Sach2 for attaching the song and emailing it to me http://bestsmileys.com/thumbs/3.gif
Now have a great copy of this track on my Desktop :) Now, how to get it into the library in Windows Media Player so that I can burn the 2 songs to CD.

It never ceases to amaze me about the members here; always trying their best to help each other out. :)

    Hi Grumbles,

After a disastrous experience with copying all my one-hit wonders from CD to my computer several years ago and running into digital rights management when I had to reload Windows, I don't do any music stuff on my computer except for play a single or two once in a while. So someone else can probably explain burning a few songs better than I.

I guess you could move the file from your Desktop to My Documents>My Music which would put it in the library folder. Then in Explorer in My Music folder highlight both songs (click first one and holding <ctrl> key click the second. Then in left pane select copy to audio CD. WMP should open and ask for a blank CD and burn it.

Again, if anyone more familiar could answer they could probably tell you a sure fire way but it looks like this should work. Good Luck :)
