Hotmail won't load in full version view. It gives me an error "jafascript Use basic version (error loading). It goes then goes to classic instead of full view but even from there won't let me delete old messages or send new messages.

Yahoo also won't load in full version. Goes to old classic version but at least it will let me do things in it.

I tried updating Java. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I tried two system restores to a week or two ago when it was working.

I checked the internet settings for Active X scripting or whatever it tells you to do to troubleshoot on the Java page. I read the whole support page for Java.

No joy. I'm so frustarted right now I could scream!

I should add -- I can get into either e-mail and use it fine with two other computers. It's just my "work" computer that won't access these mail accounts properly!

Java is not javascript. Yahoo doesn't need activeX because it works in FF which doesn't have activeX by default.
You need to check your browser and be sure javascript is enabled.

Thank you for writing! Sorry for the confusion I had between Java and Javascript.

I Googled how to how to enable Javascript with IE7.

I made sure "Active Scripting" and "Scripting of Java applets" was checked. I also checked to make sure scripting options were the same on my work laptop as my bookkeeping computer beside. They're the same.

Just in case this matters, I'm in a home office and all three computers are in the same room, same internet service, all IE7 with Windows XP.

    Thanks again for your help.

I just noticed something else odd. I tried to check out Buffalo Wild Wings menu. It told me, "You need to upgrade your Flash Player This pages uses Flash. Please install or upgrade your Flash Player to view this website."

So I went to Adobe Flash Player page and clicked download but I don't get a download and I don't get any message at the top saying, "this website wants to install the following add-on:blah blah blah" like I usually get when downloading.

What would stop the download prompt from popping up?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

two things might prvent you from seeing this: a popup blocker and javascript disabled.

Also a warning about Adobe flash, you need to run the uninstaller from Adobe before you can successfully install the latest version. They do not mention that fact on the download page but I spent a good hour trying to figure out why I kept installing and my Adobe did not get updated.

    Some useful links:
    to check your current version:

the table below also shows the current version
    the uninstaller:

Thanks for writing and sorry it's taken so long to reply. I tried the above suggestions. No joy.

I tried a total re-write with a mirror image. No joy, to my amazement.

I checked and double checked the settings under Tools, Internet Options, Security, etc. They look okay. Same as other computers in home office.

I checked Tools, Manage Add-ons, Enable or Disable Add-Ons. There were some javascript and java add-ons that weren't enabled to I enabled them and thought, this must be it. Got all excited. Enabled them, rebooted. No luck!

I installed Firefox and still can't use Yahoo or Hotmail e-mail. I can't post on some forums.

I'm feel totally defeated and think I'll just give us and live with it the way it is. It's such an inconvenience.

Thanks for trying to help me.

Are you sure that they haven't blocked these at work? If others at work can get in and you can't, tell the boss that you need a new computer. ;)

I HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AND I AM SOO FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW!!!

And the computer that has this problem is not a work computer it's my personal laptop (Dell to be exact)

This problem also seems to effect the gadget feature that comes with Vista, and I also havent been able to access the "McAfee Security Center" it just shows up as a blank box. YouTube is also not working.

I too went through the whole javascript, java, flash upgrades and settings bull. But no matter what I do my computer remains with the same problem.

If i can only know if it is my computer messing up, IE, or something else that would be a great help but because I am not even getting error popups I dont even know what the problem is. PLEASE HELP!!

BTW I should mention that yahoo! mail and youtube does work when I use Safari, but even than mcAfee and the gadgets thing still does not work

Also I am sure this is the exact problem because I got the same notice when I went to Buffalo Wild Wings website.

I work out of my home office. All the computers I mentioned are in the same room.

    Problem solved!!!

I noticed that it was my laptop on wireless that wouldn't show pictures, play videos on YouTube, let me use Yahoo and Hotmail (need these for work e-mail!) and post on some forums.

I took my laptop with me when I went to run some errands and checked for internet problems with free Wifi at a restaurant. Low and behold, it worked.

I came home and turned off the wireless on laptop and plugged laptop into the wired internet. Low and behold, everything works.

My husband worked on some settings for the wireless routed. He enabled active x and took off some filters and then I could get almost everything. I still can't send attachments with e-mail and my signature in the e-mail is messed up. I told him maybe he needs a firmware update?

Either way, for now until he messes with the wireless router some more, I'm just leaving my lappy on the wired network.

I hope this helps you, bmt102, or anyone else who has this problem. Computers can be such a pain in the A$$ sometimes but I can't live without them!
