Macy's!!! (or as I like to fondly call them, the spawn of satan :-D) Yes, Yes they are!

Ok Here's my story:

I opened a macys credit card with promises that I would get 15% off at the register and 10% off my bill (which I never saw). Ok whatever, I let it go. I've had credit cards for almost 5 years and NEVER had a late payment except for the one I had with macys changing the due date on me and sending me the statement AFTER the fact and slaming me with a late fee. I dont have time to call and complain so I just paid it - whatever.

I've only had this card for about 6 months and about 2 months ago they sent me a letter telling me that they were lowering my credit limit, why you ask? get ready... their sole reason was... I only made minimum payments. I know what you are thinking... what on earth??!??! are these people insane!!!???!! the answer is YES!! As you guys know, I've havent had a job so I was doing the best that I could (besides isnt that the POINT of a minimum payment?? and I've actually paid more than the minimum payment but not according to them.) About a month after that, they sent me another letter telling me they CLOSED my account for the same reason. WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THIS COMPANY!!!????? I dont appreciate the fact they are treating me like a delinquent customer and they are ruining my credit. They make me so angry, I've worked hard to achieve and maintain my credit and they just screwed it because I didnt pay more that they suggested rolleyes

Moral of the story? STAY AWAY FROM MACYS AT ALL COSTS!!! Tell everyone you know to stay away from macy's and if you dont believe me just google macy's complaints, you will see what people really think about them :-D

You will regret the day you ever signed up.. I know I sure do!

Should be pretty easy, as I have no idea where one is. LOL
Now Cabela's (Sporting Goods Heaven) is a different story. Can't wait 'til they get the one built in our area. :hyper

Not that you need to know, but it used to be Hudson's in Woodland Mall in GR. There's also one in the "new mall" in Grandville (Rivertown something-or-other).

 

If Macy's ever decide to open up on this side of the water, I will never shop there. If I visit N.America - same applies.
Their customer services dept is probably based in deepest darkest Peru where no-one speaks the lingo LOL

What's a credit card??
Since I started paying cash for everything or not buying it, I have been amazed at how simple life is.
Fewer bills, more available money for hobbies/etc.
You don't get in debt if you don't run up the credit cards.
Try it.....................it works.

I HAVE the credit cards, I just don't use them.

 

The sad part is it will go on a credit report as your fault, undoubtedly already has, trying to get it off is next to impossible.
If you don't want or have the time to deal with them directly print your rant from here and send that to corporate headquarters.

 

This is one of the reasons I cut the credit cards up a long time ago. My philosophy is if I can't afford it, I don't buy it. We keep one major cc just for emergencies.

 

@ Musky - they are an EVIL EEEEEEVVVIIILLLL dept. store and there like 5 in MI alone LOL

@ Gensuknives - I was unemployed for a while and unemployment wasnt cuttin it so I had to use them for just basic stuff like food rolleyes.

@ Laura - I tried to check but I cant get my free credit report until the end of sept.

@ Darlene - I bet they did too (even though I only had 1 late payment and it was their fault) I read tons of horror stories online about how macy's screwed up peoples credit and years later still wouldnt send an updated account to fix it.

@ vagabond - that was my goal too, just keep one for emegencies but then I lost my job and I almost had them paid down too.

Those articles reminded me that Macy's bought our beloved Strawbridges (the best dept. store on earth.. or atleast in PA LOL) Closed them or replaced them with Macy's everybody I know LOVED Strawbridges (We had a macy's and a strawbridges in the same mall and just by looking at the bags people carried you could tell which store was the favorite! ) and we were all so heartbroken to see them go. Some refused to every shop at macy's, boy had I wish I listened to them rolleyes

 

I'm going to go against the general trend here and defend Macy's as a great store. Their customer service is fantastic, the shoes sales are great, they have nice furniture and the dress-up section is well stocked.

Then again, I was never stupid enough to sign up for their in-store credit card. I saw the interest rate.

 

All store cards are evil they make no logical business sense,I'm suprised how many smart people sign up for them and end up paying sums over £1000+ paying off a £500 maxed out store card for some clothes they never really needed.

Good luck with everything Dyamond,if you never apply for a store card again I guess you can look on this as a pretty cheap lesson:-D

 

In hindsight, I have realized that this can easily be interpreted as me implying dyamond is stupid. I didn't mean it that way, mainly because I know she's not. So I apologize for the stupid wording of my comment.

Don't kick yourself dy, we've all fell for their campaign to promote credit only for a particular store by offering you a big discount on your purchase (right now).
You will hear horror stories from every store for one reason or another, have had my share for sure.
Think of it as Lesson Learned
