Re: Good Choice or Not Good Choice

Hello all to those very brainy computer minded people out there.

I just need a recertification on whether or not I have made the right choice in the new Hardware that I am about to receive within the next couple of days.

My PC is getting an upgrade and I would like to know if the following hardware components are either great, ok or crappy.

I am getting the following:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4600
RAM: 1 Gb DDR2 667
Mobo: Gigabyte M770 (socket AM2+)
Graphics Accelerator: nVidia 8500GT PCI-E 512Mb.

Please let me know what any of you think of these components. I have bought all this for just under $540

as far as i know you got good parts (i too have a geforce 8500 gt 512 ram video card and it's good for gaming.
you might want to add more memory because some new games recommend 1 gig of memory.

 

Hi there Hugh, thanks mate, I will take that into consideration when I ugrade a little more. I usually play the Sims 2 which I believe can be resource consuming. Not to worry though, within the next couple of weeks, there will be another gig of RAM installed. Thanks again for the tip.

Just confirming my original post about the 4600 Processor, I am actually getting the 4800+ from AMD, Duo Core. Now have I made the right choice?
