Glad it's working for you. :)

I uninstalled it as I was having probs with it. When I took a trip over to the Firefox Support forums, I notice a few threads by people having problems.

I have thought the same thing.
Also, there are some nice subtle skin differences

QUOTING LauraR [ I uninstalled it as I was having probs with it. When I took a trip over to the Firefox Support forums, I notice a few threads by people having problems.

I've notice as well that Firefox was getting a little cranky when I used it. I now use Opera 9.5 . I truly love it... it's fast and no more freeze-ups like Firefox... I won't be using Firefox again anytime soon.....Firefox was excellent but I fear that the Firefox programmers have lost their way.... LOL

    I really recommend it ! :)

I ran it for a day then uninstalled and went back to version 2.0.0.14.

Too many of my favorite add-ons didn't make the transition to FF 3.
Also, having used Fasterfox on FF 2 (another add-on not available on FF 3),
I didn't find FF 3 to be any faster at all; in fact I had lots of pages load noticeably slower.

Then there was the drop-down menu with your surfing history that wouldn't be erased! I kinda think that when I want to erase my history, it should be my decision what gets erased, not my browser's decision! :mad

In my opinion it wasn't ready yet.

Actually, I think that's your bookmarks. I didn't like that either. I don't like it in Opera, which is why I don't use it.

I have had not one problem with FF3, yet.
The add-ons I use all work with it.
There were two that were not compatible , but updates came within 6 hours of my download and all work now.
It doesn't seem to be using as much memory or CPU as FF2.
All the sites I go to work well in it, except PhotoBucket's Batch Uploader and that is being worked on at PhotoBucket.
And as said by oldandconfusedagain, it seems to load pages faster.
All in all, I am a happy customer and glad I have not had to resort to using IE.

(That last WAS pointed towards you, Adrynalyne) :p

no problems encountered either since upgrading.
    so far.
other browsers are just as good as firefox (opera is one) for what I need.
I'll see what happens, and if a problem arises, well, I'll downgrade or go to another one.
gotta go feed the birds and check the gopher traps

Firefox v3 has been working quite well for me. Of course I'm missing some of my favorite add-ons which haven't been updated (yet).

Yeah, I had Fasterfox as well and that isn't working either.

I right clicked the recently surfing history folder and deleted it. So that's out of my way now. ;)

Oh and prior to updating to FF3, I backed up FF2 to a CD, so I always can get back to it if I want it. Sofar, everything is going smooth.

The Ubuntu version is not the final relase. I had to get nightly tools to enable all my addons. I miss Google Synch, but not a real big deal on that one.

Faster, and yes you can erase history if you are patient enough to learn how. I suspect you instead were seeing your bookmarks in the Awesome Bar.

Same way as in FF 2.0. .....

    musk- IE? What is that?

I never got the hang of using quotes on here, but LauraR's correction of my drop-down menu comment was correct.

Perhaps some people like having a running list of their recently visited bookmarks, but it annoyed me, and I think there should be an option in 'clear private data' which allows the user to choose whether bookmarks history is deleted or not. Or how about an option of whether or not they are even listed in the first place. If that option was available, I didn't find it (although, admittedly, I didn't look long or hard.)

Actually there is an option whether bookmarks history is deleted or not... just go into preferences and you have option to delete on exit or keep it...or just clear it for that session.... :) Maybe the older version of Opera did not have it...but 9.5 version does...

FF3 does seem a bit faster on my puter, but it may just be that i recently installed another gig of ram...

i noticed that now in FF3 when you open a new tab using the mouse wheel clicker, the new tab kind of slides in, which i think is an improvement (over the skin and button placement changes, its the only thing i really notice different)

i dont really use a lot of addons (only flashblock, adblock, and orbit downloader), and they all work with FF3

I've used firefox 3 since the betas came out. I've used opera but I like how much more I can customize firefo3x. Also, I don't notice much of a speed dfference between opera and FF3. In fact, I'd say FF is faster with the new gecko engine.

Well just thought I would add my 2cents worth to FF3 topic..

I think FF3 is a PITA (pain in the a**) yes I do like the looks of it but it appears to load pages & tabs a lot slower than FF2.

Also, I keep having the problem of page load error sometimes I only have to click refresh once to get the page I wanted sometimes it takes 5+ tries before I get the page I wanted (never had this problem in FF2 or earlier versions of FF). I even got it when I tried to get into MG forums see below for the copy & paste of what the lil box said:
    Address Not Found

Firefox can't find the server at forums.majorgeeks.com.

The browser could not find the host server for the provided address.

    * Did you make a mistake when typing the domain? (e.g. "ww.mozilla.org" instead of "www.mozilla.org")
    * Are you certain this domain address exists? Its registration may have expired.
    * Are you unable to browse other sites? Check your network connection and DNS server settings.
    * Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.

I am seriously thinking of going back to FF2 even when switching between tabs in FF3 it seems to be slower..

My scores: 1 bad 5 good
    Appearance = 5
    Speed = 2
Ability to load pages = 1
Addons = 3 (neutral because I don't use many but what I do use works)

If anyone else more literate than me can come up with a post so everyone can rate their FF3 experience have at it.. I can't really think of a good scoring section other then what I have listed..

Was it a clean install with import of bookmarks or an upgrade?

Upgrade.. not sure how to do a clean install..
If someone can tell me how to do a clean install of FF3 I will give that a try and see if it makes a difference but I did switch back to FF2 and my pages and tabs load faster and I don't get that page load error anymore.

I've been using Firefox for a while and enjoy it very much. Sadly, my most important add-ons don't work any more. The bookmarks column display and the email button:(

Other than those two things I love it!
