It's that time for strawberries and cream again, and a bit of tennis being played. ;)

Our pocket sized Mr. Lleyton Hewitt is there again. If he gets through to the fourth round he meets the World's number 1 so that will finish Leyton for another year.

How will your nations players fare at W2008?

Poor ol' UK players. It is a bit of a common joke, but we Aussies aren't doing much better. Still we only have a base of around 21,000,000 people. A bit different from most of the other successful countries.

Another joke (pointed out by the UK commentator of EuroVision) is that UK will never win (or get many votes), and he's usually right. Bazza

Leyton fined 1,000 pounds for upsetting the officials, overnight. ;)

Well Leyton and Roger both made in through the third round and they meet in the 4th round on Monday. Roger has had continuous victories over Leyton over the past few years. Not many tip a Leyton victory. :cry

BTW, that fine was in USD$1000, not GBP£1,000. Hardly put a dent in his Wimbledon earnings. :) Bazza

I think the biggest surprise must be that we are nearly through the first week and there has been hardly any rain :-D

Lleyton (correct spelling  ) meets Roger Federer on Monday in the 4th round. Hope Lleyton keeps up his form so Roger F. doesn't wipe the court with him. Bazza

Going to be a tall Order. Federer is awesome on grass and looks a different player to two weeks ago at the French Open in Paris where he was whipped by Nadal

Yep, Federer beat Lleyton in 3 sets. Lleyton put up more resistance in the third set. So all Aussies gone from the tournament for another year. :cry

Yesterday's post must have been as a result of a dream. Match hadn't even taken place at that time.

I watched the entire match last night (OZ time). Federer won in 3 straight sets, with Lleyton giving Roger a hard time in the first set. Took him to 9-7 in the tie-break. But after that it was mainly Federer. Apparently Lleyton's hip injury flared up a bit and Roger made him stretch on some points.

So Nidal and Federer are through to the last 8. Can't remember if they are opposite sides of the draw, (I think so), but if they meet in the Final it should be a great match.

I was wondering, when i read your post especially sice i listerned to the match this afternoon, while at work

I am pretty certain that the #1 and #2 seeds will miss each other right up till the final and like you said, if they make the final it should be a great match. Nadal played well last year in the Wimbledon final and his grass game is improving each year. Whether it has improved enough to beat Federer, i personally don't think so, but we will wait and see. Gonna be good :)

    Hello Bazza

Which one of the sisters were you barracking for? So now that the final two men are sorted which horse are you on? Federer for me, although I'm finding it harder to watch his matches now, it is very distracting the differences in his arms.

LOL - I have to admit that Sharapova is the worst for this, heard her play one year at the open here in aussie. Hearing hazard notices and earplugs should be issued to the paying public. I wonder how long it will be before some clever clogs thinks they should sue over hearing loss issues at these type of events. ;)

Congrats to Laura Robson for winning the girls' singles title, aged 14:)

At least the brits have a bit of hope for the future, even though she was born in Melbourne:-D

Nadal wins in the 5th, after being 2-0 sets up. 9.18pm UK Summer time. What a match. Roger saved important point after important point. Congrats to Nadal.

I've just watched all four odd hours of it,absolutely incredible, arguably the best mens singles final ever it got into the record books for being the longest anyhow.

Both guys deserved to win,I had a little wager on Nadal but halfway through I was rooting for Federer to continue one of the most amazing comebacks I've ever seen,if he'd have won I wouldn't have minded losing my money.

    Loved it.
