Remove AVG 8 Attention! Enhance your protection notification

Greetings everyone,

Does anyone know how to disable the notification window in AVG 8.0.136? Any advice would be aprreciated. Thank you in advance for your reply

 

I know of one but it's not at all properly tested by users or "geeks". People abandon AVG - it's falling behind. Avira Antivir is the new star and on their homepage and in their forums you can find instructions on how to disable Avira Antivir's splash screens. Avast is number two in this hierarchy nowadays. Avira Antivir and avast! are both available for download here at Majorgeeks.

 

I just left the wrong impression - I can't find the trick on Google. :-D But it's out there.

The trick worked for me. I did an update and everything seemed to work out ok so far. I'll let you know if there are any problems on the next program update. Thanks again.

I tried this trick for Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus ver8.1.0.308. When I tried to change the registry key I get an error:

"Cannot edit avgnt: Error writing the values new contents."

Is there another way to do this?

But why would you want to edit the registry key?

 

To get rid of the splash screens.

stopads: did you update your Avira Antivir? Open the program and look at it's white toolbar at the top of the program. You will find a program update there. This must be done manually - it's not like the usual definitions update that arrives by itself.

 

My apologies... I was unaware that the subject matter had changed to Avira, I thought we were still on AVG. Actually it was the splash screen stuff that caused me to uninstall it and revert to AVG.

I did the Update>Start product update on my Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus and the Overview>Status says "(License will be automatically extended and updated about 4 weeks prior to expiration)", then I did a restart, and still it won't let me edit the registry. Oh well. Maybe it's only this way with the free edition. I'll uninstall this and try the premium edition and see if it works.
