Who cares? Everything has a price....besides, you drink the beer not the ownership. If they tinker with the ingredients they are just putting their investment at risk.

Which they should...I can think of about 75 beers that taste way better than Budweiser. And about 1000 that taste better than Busch, choice of $4.00 twelve-packers everywhere.

I don't like Bud at all, but I do care that more and more American money is leaving this country everyday.
More and more real estate, companies, and stocks are being to sold to non-Americans, more and more jobs are being lost to out sourcing outside the US.
We are already throttled by the foreign oil companies. Even NASA needs foreign help to get into space and keep their projects rolling.
How long is it going to be before we have to learn to sing our National Anthem in the lanquage of whatever country ends up investing the most money in our country?

BTW, you can get $4.00 12-packs?

    Hi Muskie,

America, over time has brought much of this upon itself, either by the greed of the profit or the incompetence of the workforce. Ignorance is a big expense, and if you can't find people here to do it and desire to stay in business, your options are pretty limited. Loyalty is no longer an option when it comes to the bottom line. Remember, everything in this country was once foreign-owned, if you go back far enough. ;)

I'll beg to differ on NASA's help inasmuch as we've been reaching into our budget to help the Russians make ends meet on their end of the ISS and many other projects. Their main method of raising capital to fund their projects has been selling seats on their rockets for field trips to the ISS, which I personally can't stand. Remember, it's the International Space Station, not the American Space Station. At least in cost theory.

I don't think you'll need to memorize any new anthem any time soon. This isn't NA$CAR and Toyota.

Yeah, $4.00 twelve-packs on occasion, and man you wouldn't believe the stampedes.rolleyes

Thats what i been saying. (BTW silver bullet all the way ;) )

Oh don't get me started on Nascar its a American race so only American cars should be raced until the day comes that it is raced in other country's ;)

    Hey back, Star,
I didn't really mean NASA needs money from other sources, but they do use money they get from other nations who want to send things into space, which in the long run aids NASA.

I may have come off funny because I'm PO'd that you can get $4.00 12-packs and I can't.:p

And as far as NASCAR and Toyota, that doesn't much make a difference to me, but when Toyota ends up buying GM or Ford, I think I'll head some place less foreign, like Canada.

It's always cheaper to buy a seat on the bus than the bus itself. :)

NASA doesn't profit from it; if there aren't any problems with the associated mission, it's usually a break-even proposition.

    Hi Jim,

Wish I could get time off work to road trip like that! :)

I'll stick with my $9.00 twelve-packs of PBR when I'm broke, thanks. Even that's better than pretty much anything coming out of St. Louis. :(

On the other hand, I hate to see yet another long-time American company's ownership going out of the country. Supposedly they're not going to kill any jobs, and the facility in St. Louis will still be the North American headquarters, but with foreign ownership comes a whole new set circumstances, and no one with a brain can actually seriously think nothing will change.

    Waddap Star!

Can't do that we need you doing.. Well, whatever it is you do. Not sure, but I am certain it has pretty pictures. :)

Yeah, good guy. He's drinking his way across the country.

I heard this a while ago. My only thought was it would be upsetting to St Louis people. Other than that, ah well.

Hopefully the Belgian co that bought out budweiser will be wiser than Bud and will hopefully start to introduce and produce some of their famous Belgian beers in the USA. They have an ENORMOUS selection of beer in Belgium, hundreds of beer breweries. Yet it's a tiny country with probably around 10 million. Heck they already started making this stuff in the middle ages. I love Belgian beer, its the best, especially their draught beer. I don't like the Stella Artois though and that's the one this co. makes as well. I believe the producing countries adjust their beer brewing according to the taste of the country they export to or where buy out another co in another country.

@musknipe - better be prepared if coming to this strange neighbour of yours where we have an igloo for a government building and where the Toyota's are made right here. ;) You wouldn't be able to afford a decent bear here..... all (sin) taxes.

Frankly I don't know why everyone is so upset. The company is iconic and the foreign company wants money. The only reason anyone should get upset is if they pull jobs and move operations over seas which they seem to have no intention of doing. Nor would they mess with the flavor (which is awful, btw, Canadian ALL the way) because THAT is why they bought it in the first place.

It's all about business and if it's not hurting our economy, who gives a damn. Now GM cutting THOUSANDS of jobs because the fuel crisis has caused people to stop buying cars and yanking all that money out of our economy should have people alot more worried than the stupid beer people. Besides, they make better beer on their side of the pond anyway, maybe they can teach them how to make beer that doesnt taste like ***.

I lived in Argentia, Nfld. for 4 years. Loved it and it is no more foreign than our Upper Peninsula, right here in Michigan. :-D

I clicked on this thread and the story about it came on on News10... kinda freaky. Apparently the Teamsters are keeping a close eye to make sure no jobs are lost.

Personally, I like Saranac or Guiness or Yeungling (sp?) or Blue Moon. THat is pretty much all I drink.

That's because Bud is like having sex in a canoe... Everyone is all upset based on the "principal" of the thing, but if American's had any principal Paris Hilton would not be famous, we'd have never let another Bush into the white house, and just scores and acores of other examples.

Could not agree more. Belgian beer is vastly superior to Budweiser in every way, and with any luck, maybe I'll finally be able to get a decent beer again... practically stopped drinking it since I moved. The imported stuff has so much preservatives in it it's ruined anyway. Plus, I sneakily suspect only the crappy batches get exported to the US market... the Belgians, Irish, and Germans keep the good beer at home.

I rather like to think that it is the (major) shareholders of Budweiser who liked the offer to purchase the co so much in that they couldn't refuse it. ;)

Greed overrides everything - even so called "patriotic" feelings. Money has no feelings.

I hope they send it overseas and don't bring it back. Budweiser is the worst domestic beer there is.

As an aside, have any of you tried Delereium Nocturnem? It's a Dutch wheat beer I found in an Anderson's Store in Columbus, OH, USA and nowhere else on the planet so far. I think it was a 12% beer. Best beer I ever had until I quit drinking.

LOL, they license Bud here but it's not too bad, maybe they 'Canadianized' it. it would be interesting to hear from someone who has tried some Bud from both sides.

I haven't tried the Canadianized Bud - but can tell you that Heineken in Holland tastes a LOT better than the one they export to Canada.

I'm not sure the american way can be saved... and I'm not refering to beer. I'm refering to our politicians being a bunch of three year olds playing monopoly...
