Are you in the US? I got the impression from your wording you were from Europe.

I see, for some reason reading your posts I could hear this young mans voice (he became like family) who was from Hungary, haven't heard from him in some time now and am worried. (The mother in me)

lol...did you see my earlier post? I have one that one too. It is a great phone, but I'm falling victim to the wanting the latest and greatest.rolleyes I actually never really cared about phones until they came out with the touch screen ones.

Lol...yeah...after I posted I seen your post. I thought I would love the touch screen too, until I had the XV6700!!

Aside from the touchscreen having such a ridiculous lag/response time...the Windows Mobile OS (atleast v5.0) sucks BIG TIME!!!!

I have had the opportunity to play with an IPhone and if I could afford it, then I would definitely consider it cause it is just slick all the way around!!!!

That one looks bulky. My sis has the iPhone and loves it. I don't have AT&T though and I'm not sure when or if Verizon will ever carry the iPhone.

There is no such thing as an America-only company, unless it's a local mom and pop store. Especially when it comes to computers (which, believe it or not, Apple was originally ;)).

Never, ever. Although they have adopted the Linux for phones, so I would expect to see some new phones coming out with a totally different OS/interface.

Seriously?? Does AT&T carry that contract indefinitely or something?

In some ways Apple is smart as a company (genius marketing), but I swear I don't understand how they've lasted this long as a business.

I know AT&T has exclusive rights through Apple to the iPhone, I just wasn't sure if it was indefinitely or not. I vaguely recall reading something that Verizon was offered it first and turned it down??? Stoopid. Also, with the new release of the updated iPhone, there was just something about how the phone is going to be cheaper, but Apple is no longer controlling the pricing plan that AT&T offers so it's going to wind up costing people more money.

I thought they all locked down their phones. :confused

Well...the new iPhone is not cheaper. Not really. They split the cost up by upping the costs of the plans required for one. In actuality, you pay more for it, by the end of contract.

I don't know that Apple had a say whatsoever in the pricing plan ATT offered, or does now.

Which is ok, IMO. Apple has reported selling ~ 1 million iPhones in the first 3 days this launch.

When I say lock down, I mean VZW cripples bluetooth, drops their own custom garbage UI on the phones, and then ties them all into Get it Now to be able to do much of anything. They don't want to lose one cent, the greedy bastards.

I'm curious if anybody has any first hand experience with the touch screens on the new Instinct and the voyager...and I'm curious if the new Windows Mobile 6.0 is better.

When I had my Pocket PC (you're right Wenchie...STUPIDEST piece of junk ever!!) the Windows Mobile 5.0 OS harbored a poltergeist...I thought, anyway. I would pull my phone out and there would be all kinds of stuff open and running, which ofcourse would cause the phone to freeze and would have to do a soft restart. Come to find out...whenever you open an application, then go to "X" out...even though you were done and didn't want the app open...it still kept it in the memeory (what a joke) and you had to manually go into the memory and release whatever you didn't want open anymore. And that is every app on the phone, from messenging to the mobile office apps, media player...EVERYTHING stayed in the memory even though you closed it out.

I mean...come on...these guys in Redmond are supposed to be geniuses...why would they do/miss something like that. I sure can't figure out any reason to intentionally make it that way...even the Verizon technician who explained it to me had quite a laugh when I asked what the purpose of that would be.

Anyway...sorry for the temporary hijack, and I'll get off my soapbox now. :)

This is the one i am using at the moment because my old one the headset speaker quit working leaving the speaker phone speaker and then the cam quit working so i moved to this one and its only one of many people have given me mostly all ATT phones so i just change out the sim cards and keep going. I wish i could buy a new I-phone or something with a cam but can't waste the cash on that just yet.

This is the one i am using its a Samsung SGH-X497

A friend of mine works for Verizon, they were offered the I-Phone first, but turned it down. What a screw-up executive decision!

I actually read that too...bad decision.

  31. Adrynalyne

Being that they would need to subsidize the phone by raising rates, as ATT did, I am not entirely convinced that it was a bad decision.

That, and they are bringing in the HTC Touch Diamond to Verizon, which unquestionably stomps the ever living crap out of the iPhone.
