I would like to extend a warm word of thanks to you guys - and girls - on Major Geeks for always being there for us when we need advice on solving problems - whether it's just adding a toolbar button, or upgrading, or whatever the problem.

Your friendly and helpful advice at all times is much appreciated!

    Thanks, Major Geeks!

    :)

WHAT!!!!???? Running scared of a septuagenarian like me? Watch it, Sonny!! I may be in my seventies (genuine - no kidding!) but if you don't toe the line, I can still catch and tan you!!!

    :-D :roflmao

Jokes aside, though, it IS nice to know that help and advice is always at hand, especially for someone like me who grew up when pencils were our "computers." After all, they wrote, they erased, AND - you could even carry them behind your ear, which you can't do with one of these desktop monsters!!! And I learned a very valuable lesson very early in life - the two words, PLEASE and THANKS/THANK YOU cost absolutely nothing!!

Once again, Thanks, Dankie (Afrikaans), Siyabonga (isiZulu), Spasibo (Russian), Grazie (Italian - I think...)

Used to be blond as a youngster, Oma, but I don't think grey can by any stretch of the imagination be compared with "blond!"

Ah - I also see you've got the world's first "computer" posted on your thread!! When I mentioned that it could write and erase, I forgot to mention that it can also draw - AND you can use it for gaming like Noughts and Crosses, for instance! AND you used it in school for doing arithmetic, thus adding calculations to its attributes.

Oh, and MOST important, if there's a power failure, the pencil does NOT shut down, nor does it become infected with viruses and malware!!! How is all this for achievments with such a simple, primitive little instrument! Don't EVER underestimate its uses!!!

    ;)

Oh - forgot to add - another excellent feature about the pencil is if someone attacks you, you can also jab the perp VERY painfully with it - try throwing a computer at the perp - it doesn't work. You only end up having to replace a very expensive machine, not so?

You forgot to mention you can also balance it on your top lip:-D

Pencils can fail as well. We just need to sharpen them though when there is a failure. That's a big +. ;)

Additionally, the pencils like PC's also get reduced in size while using them, adding some new contraptions to a pencil won't work though.

you mean the more I use my PC the smaller it will get? Because that would be awesome, it takes up so much space!!!

I know thats not really what you meant, but boy was I hoping.

But then, one can always keep a good supply of pencils in the drawer of your desk, so you never really run out of space - you simply "transfer" onto another "drive" in the process!!! And they cost far less than computers! ;) Can't say the same for computers - where do you store any spares you might have?

    ;)

That's for you to figure out and me to wonder about :-D

My pencil sharpener already takes up far too much space in my (desk) drawer so no room for any additional pencils. :( Unfortunately my "drive" can handle only one at a time. ;) No room for spare computers either..... so what do I do????

Perhaps a :major in programming can figure this one out?

Where can one of those be found? :-D

Got the solution!! You cut the dual drive pencil in half and "synchronize" them to each individual "drive". :yum Of course, it's presumed that each "drive" will write at the same speed. ;)

It may be not the perfect solution. Perhaps a MG will step in and solve this particular problem since I'm only a newbie?

You know, guys (and girls) that this thread has turned out to be very interesting!!! Strange how one thought can lead to another - look how this one has veered away from the original posting of a word of thanks - and here we are, talking about pencils!

Let's face it, this simple litle device makes for some good conversation!!!

    :-D

@KIM.... yes, it turned out pretty different than what your initial post was about. :) And we haven't even talked about the 'device' one needs when using the d*rn pencil. That "other" device takes up a LOT of room and can be spied upon, transformed, whitened out, blacked out, torn up, burned; the list of malware and spyware is endless........ :cry:cry :-D:-D

Most importantly..... a pencil doesn't write by itself.... it needs a brain.... :innocent

How is this different from a computer....?

Kim, thanks for a fun thread! :)

"Brains" discovered and made computers.... not the other way around. ;)
