I just called my isp to have them reset my modem- the tech apparently screwed up- my connection speed is not 10 meg down and 1 meg up instead of 5 meg down and 500k up!

Cool!! I recently went Comcast Broadband to AT&T DSL strictly for the sake of saving money and I do miss the 8mb down!!! But at the same time my internet bill went from $45.00/mo to $19/mo. However, 3meg down is way adequate for about 85% of my internet activity. If I need to download a large file, I just set it up to work on another comp while I go do something else.

Cable or DSL? DSL tends to be up and down like fiddlers elbow for a week while it self finds a stable speed, likely yours will be at 5mb in a weeks time, I know mine started off a 5 and settled at 3mb DL and 1mb UL

One letter One number ( trumps your two words )
N3 network the best service money cannot buy ;)

Does fluctuate during the day, depending on traffic... seen it at 3mb DL and various speeds generally between 20-30mb normally.

Also some cable networks use a method that cox communications calls "Powerboost" in which you get extra bandwidth providing the network isn't being used to max amounts. IE if not many people using it, more bandwidth for you.

That's like my news today. I got an e-mail that my Time Warner bill was ready to view... it should be about 150.00 (I get phone cable and 'net for $99/month) but the bill total was $0.00

    Life is good :)
