It seems that CCleaner uses msconfig to remove startup entries?

I was trying to follow the advice about not using msconfig to control startups, so I switched to "normal startup" and tried to remove the startup using ccleaner. After rebooting, I saw that msconfig had gone back to "selective startup". This happened twice.

CCleaner does not use MSconfig. CCleaner permanently deletes startup entries. There is no backup function either which is one reason why it is not recommended in Dealing with Startup Processes

My mistake!! Apparently the new version of CCleaner has added a Disable feature. And they do use Msconfig registry keys to do this. Thus in effect they are still just using MSconfig. Therefore you should not use CCleaner to control startups. You should still use what is recommended in the Dealing with Startup Processes link.

Thanks to dr.moriarty for letting me know that Ccleaner added the disable feature. ;)
