vista back to XP home edition

Hi all, and thanks in advanced for any help, hints, or tips you can offer! My daughters computer is a Emachine(W3609) w/ Vista home basic.... My question is can I somehow make Vista go away and install windows xp home edition??rolleyes

 

Check to see if there are XP drivers available for your rig. You may also want to try and dualboot Vista with XP before you wipe Vista off, also you may void your warranty so check that out too. You didn't mention why she wants to go back to XP, someone may be able to help you with your Vista issues.

 

Oh, use the free Everest from the front page here to identify what drivers you may need.

 

Hi again...Wow that was fast!!! Well the issues are not with vista as much as they are my daughter(14yr.old) I have a legit windows xp HomeEdition disk.(version 2002)
I just wasnt sure how to go about process. Do I just pop the disk in, enter the product key and sit back and wait.( Something tells me that wont be the case!!!)

Erm, 'something' is right!:-D It's not that easy to get a dualboot or write over a pre-installed Vista. Like I said, you need to know if you have drivers available first. At least with a dualboot, you can figure that out first. You at least should be somewhat geeky to attempt either approach though there are many good tutorials out there. As to your daughter's perception of Vista (it's not that different from XP) you're on your own there.

EDIT: Your XP disc is only valid for one computer at a time.

 

Thanks guys, Problem solved! I let my daughter read your post... Then said, what the heck lets give it a try, if it dose not work im sure your little brother will let you use his computer when ever you want.:-D:-D:-D. She's decided vista is a-ok!!! Thanks again!!
