Nascar History Making Race

Nascar is racing for the first time with rain tires and windshield wipers.
Happening now Aug 2 in Canada, take a look

 

Hmm, I forgot all about this as it's in my backyard. Raining cats and dogs where I live(40 miles away), pretty dry over on the track. The cars do look weird eh?:-D

 

Gawd, this track is barely passable for F-1 and with the larger and heavier NASCARs going on a small, rain slicked track is just plain pathetic! BORING!!!

 

Hahaha, there are more accidents under caution than under green! Bunch of American woosies! It's really pouring there so I think they'll call the race besides getting pretty dark. I have to hand it to the ESPN announcers, they tried real hard. roflmao

You really meant the Nationwide Series, where the pro Sprint Cup drivers race against rookies, so they can look good.LOL

I saw bits of it, comical to see NA$CAR continue its season-long tradition of shooting itself in the foot, all in the name of "better" competition.

 

Meh, too many series to follow! Have to give it to the fans though, they only started to leave when they couldn't see anything anymore.:-D I bet the libations are flowing on Crescent St. now. I hope there are not too many Mr. Woosies picked up tonight.:-D

 

Think this will be the end of the history making experiment? LOL

I'm old fashioned when it comes to autosports. I'm not into the show boating pretty boy spokesmen they have now...especially in NA$CAR. It's all business now.

No contempt, Bazza. They just don't race in the rain.
That is smart as average lap speeds are much higher than F1.

I don't know what Nascar's reasoning was for the change in the Nationwide series, because I don't pay any attention to it. It's pretty much a meaningless series.

 

Isn't it a subtle way to promote Beer and Motorhome sales?

 

You know, I have to agree with everyone about F1 being much better than nascar.

 

And XP is better than Vista?
It's all in what you like.

F1 has it's controversy and it's sponsors promoting their products.
Nascar has the same.

F1 is road course racing, primarily with passing at around 90-100mph.
Nascar is mainly ovals with passing at around 150-200mph."

F1- Can't go to a course and see most of track.
Nascar- At nearly all tracks, there are seats available from which you can see everything.

F1 is streamlined cars, that in no way resemble actual cars.
(Can a normal F1 fan claim, "My McLaren is faster than your Ferrari?)
Nascar is modified real cars. (really modified)
(Nascar fans can say my Chevy pounded your Ford)

F1- Pit strategy is not as important as driver skills.
Nascar- Pit strategy (which most occasional watchers miss completely) is as important as driver skills.

F1- When 3 cars enter a 2 car wide turn, usually one crashes.
Nascar- When 3 cars enter a 2 car turn, it's just another day of normal good racing.

F1- Good sport.
Nascar-Good sport with the highest fan base in America.
