Damn.... I liked that guy. His 'better than average' TV sitcom was watchable and now I'm going to be sad every time I watch the re-runs.

Damn what a shock,pneumonia?If i were anywhere with pneumonia it would be an expensive hospital in America I'm amazed they couldn't save him.

Generally when it is 'complications from pheumonia' that is the cause of death in a younger person, it is pneumonia that is caused by something else. AIDS being a big one.

Not saying that's what his was, just that it's normally a secondary infection.

Very sad.

In addition to the pneumonia he had some kind of nodules in his lungs also. I believe a pre existing condition.

Mac suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body's organs, but had said the condition went into remission in 2005.[1]

On August 1, 2008, Mac was hospitalized with what his publicist claimed was pneumonia. The next day, responding to rumors that the actor was in "very, very critical condition," his publicist said that he was responding well to treatment, and should be released soon.[7] On August 9, his publicist announced that Mac had died from complications of pneumonia unrelated to sarcoidosis.[1]
