Can MS Outlook 2000 be added to Office 2007?

I have purchased a new computer with Vista.
I had installed MS Office Student Edition 2007.
I've noticed that it does not have MS Outlook.
Can I install my Outlook 2000 program to my system,
although I have Office 2007 on there? Will I run into
problems or is there a specific way to do this?

Thanks so much for any information.

    Joey

The Home and Student Office 2007 does not provide Outlook.
That's why I'm wondering if and how to install my MS Outlook 2000
to my already installed Student 2007.

I don't think they are compatable. Either purchase Outlook 2007 or use Outlook Express for your email.

    Hi

Office 2000 is on the Vista compatible List, Outlook 2000 needs to be at Outlook Office Service Pack 3 and even then its 50/50 if it will work... been ok for some and not others, you could give it a try you maybe lucky.

Would need to do a custom install of just Outlook 2000 buy red x every other item of Office 2000 thus installing just Outlook, after that get Office SP3 and install it.

Quickly question just in case you cannto get Outlook 2000 to work, do you need the features of Outlook? if not them Windows Live Mail is good but doesnt come with a calendar... however you have the limited calendar built into Vista that is OK, but also could checkout using Mozillas Thunderbird with the Lightning add-on.

Thanks for all of the reponses.

I just went out and bought Outlook 2007.
So now I just have to figure out how to merge all of my
e-mails, contacts, etc. from my computer with the Outlook Express (running on Windows 98) and merge them onto my new computer with Outlook 2007 (running on Vista). Anyone?

I've googled this and there's so many opinions.

Oh, good to hear this is a good solution!
I'm bummed that they sold me the Office Student Edition.
Why not the entire package with Outlook. (just venting)

Halo, I'm going to try and work on all of this.
I'll let you know how things go :)

    Thanks so much.

Okay, what I'm stuck on it...

I followed the instructions in the first link - saving all of my files from OE6.
I saved them onto a memory stick, being that Outlook 7 is on my new computer.

I read the "Importing" instructions in the second link,
however I don't see any clear options for importing these
files back in from my memory stick (or file).

Is there a "how to" for this.

I'm reading that I may have to import everything into "Windows Mail" on my new computer with 0utlook 2007,
then import the info from Windows Mail. Does that sound correct? or suggested?

    <Crossing fingers>

I looked into this awhile back, after I bought my notebook PC with Vista and was wondering about copying email messages over from my Win XP desktop PC, and, as I recall, you will have to do just as you said above.

"Copy the entire Outlook Express folder to removable media, such as a floppy disk, DVD, or portable memory device, and then copy it to the computer where Outlook is installed."

Sorry to late to edit other post.
