Hi I posted on the software board because I thought it had to do with downloading a bunch of Hewlett Packard stuff or with the Firewall accepting or blocking something it shouldn't,

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=1196933#post1196933

but the Microsoft Works doc I was working on now won't open, it says it needs to be converted or something, so I started a whole new doc and now it says that for this one too.

Also when I had the doc open I tried to quickly email it to myself but now computer will not let any attachments to my email.

Please let me know what you think.

    Thanks,

    Cinder Edna

I have never heard of a DDMI.sys file. Not as malware and not as legit. Are you sure about the spelling and does the file actually exist?

None of this is a topic for the Malware Forum. You need to work your problems with not having the correct features for Microsoft Works installed in the software forum.

Hi I'm out of town so I can't look at the exact name but I know it said DDMI Service.

How did my Microsoft Works get installation problems after using it fine for as long as I can remember? And how can you tell that that is what the problem is?

Then perhaps you meant DDMI2.sys not DDMI.sys. Exact file names are important. It is is DDMI2.sys it may just be software from http://www.gteko.com/

I'm only going on what you stated in that you cannot convert the a file which just sounds like you do not have to correct filters installed to read the file. There is no known malware that does this. Unless you give more exact specific details it does not sound like malware. In addition you have been posting lots of issues recently and they all seem to indicate you have problems with your OS or with what you are doing with it. Everything that happens is not malware and you should not be immediately responding like it is and disabling everything in your firewall....etc like you posted in your other thread. You are going to cause yourself many problems by making all kinds of programs not be able to work properly.

    Hi Chaslang,

    OK thanks.

Sorry what does OS stand for?

No one is responding to my post in software.

    OS = Operating System

    As in Windows OS?

No one has an answer or they don't understand what you are posting about. You messages are too long and non-specific and you appear to be doing too many things on your own which just do not make any sense.

You may be just better off reinstalling your system from scratch and then avoid doing all these things you have been doing with your firewall and everything else. As I said before, every problem that arises is not always malware. And you have not had any malware since you started posting. Thus the problems are more related to your OS and what you are doing to it. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but it just appears to be the facts.

    You're right it was DDMI2.sys

Hi, no it's OK. I'm just trying to figure out what the heck to do.

Things were finally working fine a few days ago and then all I know is this one file I was working on won't open. (The other thing that happened was my browser changed to Yahoo toolbar which I didn't install.) The rest of the files will open. I started a new file and that one 50/50 will/won't open so I'm scared to work on anything.

Only thing I did before this happened was I downloaded Final Draft and the Hewlett Packard Printer stuff.

Yahoo Toolbar is not a browser. It is an addon for the browser and it probably came with something else you installed. You need to read license agreements and look at the check boxes on installation pages before you install things. It is also not malware. Just uninstall it if you don't want it.

Nothing that you are posting here sounds like anything to do with malware. You can run thru the whole READ & RUN ME procedure again and attach all new logs if you wish, but I'm not expecting to find anything of consequence.

    Hi Chaslang,

OK things got worse so I restored my computer to factory settings and put up a post with my computer info as of right now, in the Software section.

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=1199115#post1199115

Please tell me what to do to set up my computer optimally, so that I will stop bugging you.

    Thanks,

Sorry but that is not a topic for the Malware Forum and I really do not have time for non-malware issues. We are way too busy fighting malware.

See the sticky thread on How to Protect Yourself from Malware to accomplish at least that part.
