    Ok, did you look in the System Devices section of Device Manager?
    Look for the MS UAA bus driver or HD Audio Controller. Is it there?
    And Realtek HD does show up in Sound, Video, and Game controllers?

    Start out with a reinstall of your chipset drivers:
    Nvidia Chipset 1413 package driver for 2k Professional/XP

    Is this the fix you tried?

    This patch is required before any of the HD device drivers are installed
    1. On your PC change the CSDVersion registry key to XP SP2:
    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows\CSDVersion value=200
    2. Restart your PC
    3. Install KB888111xpsp2.exe http://couponmeister.com/blog/HD_Audio/kb888111xpsp2.exe
    4. Change the CSDVersion key back to XP SP3 again:
    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows\CSDVersion value=300
    5. Restart your PC, finalize configuration of your PC, sysprep and capture.

    Hi! I have controlled everything...in my device manager there are MS UAA bus driver, Realtek HD audio and NVDIA HDMI audio device.

    I have tried to reinstall also your suggested package Nvidia Chipset 1413.
    I have changed the value 300 in 200, fix with the KB888111.exe and rechanged the 200 in 300 and reboot.
    I have also used the UAA High Definition Audio AddOn 1.0 but the audio doesn't work again.
    Maybe it can be important: my MS UAA bus driver is 5.10.0.5010 version in date 05/03/2004

    Now I'm getting it. A lot of times the extra audio drivers, like your HDMI one or chat program software take over from the main audio sound.
    When you say that you have no audio peripheral in Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices, do you mean it doesn't show as default sound device? No device shows there? (see thunbnail)

    Check to see if those 3 drivers are Enabled in Device Manager. (right click the device, choose Properties and under the General tab it should say "this device is working properly."

    Check your Windows Audio service.
    Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services
    Scroll down the list of services until you find the Windows Audio service.
    Right click on it and choose Properties.
    Make sure it is set to Automatic and Start is checked.

    Also, make sure that, in your Audio manager, S/PDIF or Digital are not chosen.

    Do you have a disc with the HDMI driver on it?
    If you do, try disabling it first, then rebooting to see if this gives your sound back to you. If that doesn't work, uninstall it and then reboot.

    Yes i haven't shown no device in sounds and audio devices. It's everything grey.

    Yes, these 3 drivers are working properly.
    My audio service is automatic and start.

    I have disabled nvidia hdmi driver but no audio again.
    I can't uninstall it...xp finds it after reboot and automaticly xp installs it like the other audio drivers and MS uaa bus driver.

    It's best to start your own thread, weetush.
    Problems may have the same symptoms but different cures.
    Please state your motherboard model and OS in the new thread, because I sometimes forget where I directed you from.rolleyes

    Tired about all this...i have bought and installated a new creative sound blaster x-fi xtreme audio...and no audio again:cry
    The same problem...in device manager it's ok...in control panel-->sound and audio device: no audio device.
    I have removed audio onboard in bios and win xp finds my sb audio but it doesn't works.

    Yes, I have that fix. It is usually the last that I try, so that is why we haven't gotten there yet. I haven't found any new info that could help, so considering your new dilemma, it's time.

    Make sure that you COPY, not CUT or move your original file.
    Creating a Restore Point is also a good idea.

    Scenario One
    You DO have "Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator" listed under System Devices (in Device Manager)

    Carry out the following steps;
    * Copy C:\WINDOWS\inf\machine.inf to a temporary location
    * Edit your copy of machine.inf in Notepad
    * Remove line 20 (ExcludeFromSelect=*)
    * Right-click “Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator” and click “Update Driver”
    * Choose “Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)” and click Next
    * Choose “Don’t search. I will choose the driver to install” and click Next
    * Click “Have Disk”
    * Browse to the location of your copy of machine.inf and click OK
    * Select “Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator” and click Next
    * Wait for the software to install then click Finish

    Scenario Two
    You DON’T have "Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator" listed under System Devices (in Device Manager)

    Carry out the following steps;
    * Copy C:\WINDOWS\inf\machine.inf to a temporary location
    * Edit your copy of machine.inf in Notepad
    * Remove line 20 (ExcludeFromSelect=*)
    * Go to the Control Panel and run “Add Hardware”
    * When the Add Hardware Wizard appears, click Next
    * Wait for it to search for new hardware
    * Choose Yes, I have already connected the hardware and click Next
    * Scroll all the way down and select “Add a new hardware device”, click Next
    * Choose “Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)”, click Next
    * Select “Show All Devices” and click Next
    * Click “Have Disk”
    * Browse to the location of your copy of machine.inf and click OK
    * Under Model, select “Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator”, click Next
    * To start installing the drivers, click Next
    * Wait for the software to install then click Finish

    Now see if you can install your driver.
