Wish to alter the OS choice screen @ Boot

I dual boot Ubuntu and XP on many computers but have always had a confusing (for my users) array of OS choices at boot after setting up dual.
I'd like to pare the list of six or seven choices (of which, only two will ever be used) down to said two.
Can I do this through msconfig as stated in this thread = http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=142511
or is there an easier/better way?
