I've identified malware on my computer by the name of Antivirus 2008. My screen turned blue and a yellow box appeared in the middle of my desktop warning me about spyware. I have Webroot Spyware software and Norton. I've tried to remove my problem but when I scan again it is still there. It has definitely slowed down my computer.

I got rid of my old version of Java and installed the latest one. Wow I was behind! I then downloaded SAS, Malwarebytes, and Spybot. I could not download Combofix for some reason. I was able to run MGtools and have a log. I'm not sure where to go from here but I definitely want to get rid of this!

    Help!

You need to attach the logs from
    • SUPERAntiSpyware
    • Malwarebytes
    • MGtools
What problem did you have with dwonloading ComboFix? Did you really mean downloading or did you mean running it? Try again and make sure you shutoff SpySweeper and as much of Norton as possible before trying to do anything with ComboFix.

Thank you. When I try to open the txt file for the logs......its a bunch of symbols. SAS found Vundo-Variant and Trojan Dropper. I'm attaching the MG zip file.

You did not answer my question about what problems you had with ComboFix. You need to address this as we may need to use it to finish any malware removal.

You need to uninstall Ask Toolbar and Viewpoint Media Player as requested in step 1 of the READ & RUN ME.

You need to uninstall either McAfee or Symantec right now. The first instructions in the READ & RUN ME explained that you must not have multiple antivirus programs installed. Do you also have Microsoft's Windows Onecare security software installed?????

After doing this you will need to redownload MGtools.exe (a new version is out) and use it to attach a new MGlogs.zip file.

I don't know what you mean. The log files are available on your PC please just attach them. The below shows where they are located.

    Code:
    "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\SUPERAntiSpyware.com\SUPERAntiSpyware\Logs\"
    supera~1.log Aug 14 2008 658 "SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log - 08-14-2008 - 23-28-23.log"

    "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\"
    mbam-l~1.txt Aug 15 2008 4832 "mbam-log-8-15-2008 (19-07-45).txt"
