Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm not 100% positive that I'm still infected, but this seems to be a particularly nasty little bugger that my sysadmin friend was unable to remove for me, so I figure better safe than sorry.

I've read and followed all instructions in the "Read & Run Me First" FAQ. Here are my logs (The 3-file limit's going to force me to attach another in a reply):

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Looks like the READ & RUN ME did its job. You are clean. We just have some miscellaneous things to do along with final instructions.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.dell4me.com/myway
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://www.dell4me.com/myway
O2 - BHO: (no name) - AutorunsDisabled - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O9 - Extra button: MUSICMATCH MX Web Player - {d81ca86b-ef63-42af-bee3-4502d9a03c2d} - http://wwws.musicmatch.com/mmz/openWebRadio.html (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to cleanup some items from running ComboFix.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. You can uninstall SUPERAntiSpyware now.
    2. We recommed you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as a scanner. It uses no resources except a little disk space until you run a scan.
    3. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Thank you for all of your help!

I received a success message when merging fixme.reg with the registry. I think I'm clean, so I'll finish the final clean-up steps you gave me this afternoon.

I have one final question though... this is the computer that I have all of my quicken financial records and tax records stored on. If you were me, how worried would you be about continuing to use this computer for that purpose? I understand that you can't give me a 100% guarantee that I'm clean now, but if this were your computer, would you trust it?

Also, I don't know what Vundo/Virtumonde is capable of. Do I need to be worried that someone grabbed my financial data while I was infected?

    Thanks!

    You're welcome.

I would not be that concerned since Vundo is not an information stealer. You should be fine; however, if you need a guarantee (which we cannot give as you stated) then there is only one answer and that is do a total clean reinstall after deleting your hard disk partition.

Thanks, and just one more final question.

Every time I try to remove Hijack This (Final step #6), I get an error message from Add/Remove Programs saying that it can't remove the program and it may already have been uninstalled (it hasn't). What should I do?

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it and on the first screen select the Open the Misc Tools section button. On the next form, slide the vertical scroll bar down until you see the Uninstall HijackThis & exit button and select it.
