Still having probs after "Run First"

Working on a friends comp, and it was ugly. 2-3 fake antispyware progs. Hijacked desktop, hijacked google, no access to AV sites, messed up start menu, etc.

Did the "Read & Run me first" and it has gotten better but still a few probs. Some of the profiles still have messed up start menus. "All programs" button missing, everything on right side of menu (My docs, control panel, etc) missing, "log off" button missing. The time is also still messed up, it reads 9:13:VIRUS ALERT!.

I'm hoping that everything is cleaned out and there's just some registry changes to be made. However, I've never dealt with a comp this badly messed up, and don't like playing in the registry unless I have to. Hopefully someone can help.

    Thanks!

PS: I did the "Read & Run" 3 weeks ago but wasn't able to come back to finish this part til now. Hopefully it won't need to be done again.

Ran SuperAnti-Spyware, MalwareBytes, and Spybot again (in that order). SAS found 23 problems, MB was clean, and Spybot found 34 more. Have an updated SAS log.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Now goto Add/Remove Programs and uninstall iWin Games (remove only)

Now we need to use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Also delete all files and subfolders in the below folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp
    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Things seem to be somewhat better. Followed all the instructions given. The registry edit was successful. Ran CCleaner in all user accounts(incl Admin). Attached MGLog but can't attach combofix.txt as it's 351 kb and over the limit. Fixed most of the Start menu problems manually( r-click and properties). However, 2 of the users still do not have a "Log Off" button only "Turn Off Computer" and can only be logged out through the task manager. As well, these 2 users still have the time displaying as "7:03:VIRUS ALERT!" .

    Thanks for the help.

Please compress it into a ZIP file and attach it. If you don't know how to do this, split the text file into 2 parts and attach them. ;) I need this log to continue.

Each user account has to be addressed separately. We need to finish the first before going onto the next....etc. We will only get logs from SUPERAntiSpyware and MGtools for the other accounts but not yet. In preparation for that, please uninstall the copy of SAS that you have installed and then download and install the current version from here SUPERAntiSpyware after installing make sure you update it to the current definitions but do not run a scan yet.
