trying to run windows me on a hp machine

I'm trying to run windows me on a hp a1619h pavillion pc (so i can run old programs that don't run good on xp) and it needs a ati chipset driver the motherboard is made by ecs (i don't know the model#)
does anyone know where i can download a windows me version of a ati chipset driver? plus i don't know if i'm posting this message in the right group it seems to fit both hardware and software!!

 

Use this link to find the drivers for your motherboard. I didn't look through all of 'em to see if WinME drivers were available, but with any luck.....

BTW- have you tried running the programs in question using the XP compatibility mode for ME/98?

 

A note on using compatibily mode. I learned a trick from the instructions for installing a windows 95 game. You can set the compatibility for the setup.exe of a program prior to installation and then set the compatibility again for the programs start exe. This double setting of compatiblity often works when just setting it after install does not. It can also prevent failed installations of older programs.

 

I'm letting you guys know it's going well i using another pc to install windows 98 and it just got done download drivers for it!
