I recently picked up some malware (I'm not sure if its a trojan or a virus or what) and can't seem to get rid of it. My Norton anti-virus won't even start ever since i got infected, i've tried the removal tool for the specific trojan.vundo (which is what I'm infected with apparently based on avira anti-virus) off of the symantec website but that did nothing. I really don't know what else to do my computer is too slow for me to effectively try to find any other solutions... I've tried to the trend micro online scan but it just froze my computer. Unless I'm mistaken i need to post a hijackthis log since its an individual case basis... which I think it is and which is why i didnt follow a similar post i saw as I don't want to destroy my computer by deleting files that were renamed or different for another user.

My HJT log is as follows:

Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2
Scan saved at 12:44:56 AM, on 9/17/2008
Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)
    MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16705)
    Boot mode: Normal
Edit by chaslang: Inline HJT log removed. READ & RUN ME sticky not followed.

Someone please help me immediately if possible I need to get this resolved by friday. All help is greatly appreciated

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

You are mistaken. See the sticky threads. ;)

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions. Make sure you uninstall all but one antivirus as requested because you appeared to have more than one installed.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
