Have Virus and Cannot start Computer..need help!!

Hey guys, this is my first post. I recently acquired some kind of virus. From what I have read on different boards I believe it is a trojan of some kind. I can't log on windows and of the 3 times it has worked in the last 150 attempts, my screen flashes and resets whatever I open. Also some spyware remover/anti-virus software ad pops up. I am not sure how to take care of this because I cannot even log onto windows xp to even get an answer. Any Help is appreciated. Thanks!!

Can you boot in safe mode?

If you cannot boot in normal mode, nor in safe mode then there really is not much that we can do for you except suggest trying the below:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307545&sd=tech and when you choose the restore point to copy from, choose one from a time before you were having problem.

a Windows Repair ( a topic for the Software Forum )

or reinstall.

Thanks, Yes I cannot log in safe mode or normal mode at all. Also, the laptop that has the virus won't even recognize my hard drive to install windows when I have the windows disk booted from the cd-rom. If anyone has any idea how I could reinstall windows I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I suggest that you post in the Hardware or Software Forum. You may have a failed hard disk or hard disk controller hardware. Or you may have an issue with your BIOS.
