Decks Anyone?

Well, here's been a project of mine for the last 18 months. (Yeah I know but I ain't no carpenter either.)
Lat year was to take down the existing deck, which is the upper portion in these photos next to the house.
Everything but the ledger board, main support beams and posts went. 14 years of weather had done the treated wood in.
I had to jack up the support beam to dig around 2 posts that had sunkabout 6" and pour some concrete in and under the posts.
After that, new floor joists and composite decking cut on a 45 degree angle to be a little bit different. (Never again)
Been through my daughter's 2 boyfriends and 1 fiancee and still haven't gotten finished yet. (Young whipper snappers can't stand the work.)
This year has been adding a 12' x 24' extension with new posts, beams, floor joists, composite decking and composite railings kits.
We also put plastic and 6 tons of pea gravel under everything to keep it looking decent. I've still got some stairs to build and some drain pipe to run to keep the water off the posts but it's getting there finally.
Then the landscaping around the deck is set for next year. (Oh my aching back.) Anybody want to help?

That is a mighty fine deck there that ya have built "Jack", should earn you many brownie points with the better half :-D Nice view of the neighbours yard ;)

Can't help with the back breaking work, but appreciate greatly all the hard work you have put into the "deck".

Thanks guys. I can't claim to have done it all by myself.
The wife and 2 20-something daughters have put in their fair share of fetch and hold when it wasn't too heavy. (The girls actually moved about half of the pea gravel by 5 gallon bucket. They were tired that evening. ;))

Wife's already taken me to 2 stores and looked online for relaxing furniture. (Some of that furniture is in the unrelaxing price range tho.;))

Thanks Laura, I'm kinda liking it myself. Just need to get the last few things done before bad weather sets in.

That is so nice, decks and trees are my favorites.
Did you use a composit instead of wood? You live in a beautiful area

Wild - I won't take it with me but some of the prices are heart attack range and I do want to use it just a little bit before I kick off.;)

I did use composite decking boards and railing kits darlene. Everything underneath that is treated wood.
The area is pretty nice. The top end of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia just east of Winchester. Been around this area all my life and pretty satisfied with it.
Rolling hills and all 4 seasons for variety.:)
