Normal startup, now video driver failure

I have a fairly new Dell Dimension that eventually got slower and slower due to various malware. I started to run your READ ME FIRST steps (which have worked great whenever I've used them before), but right after I did the uninstall of suspect programs and I changed from Selective to Normal startup, I haven't been able to get the computer to come back up.

Right after I changed to Normal startup and did the Restart, I got a blue screen that says the video driver failed to initialize. Since then, I've tried Safe Mode, Last Good Configuration, Enable VGA mode, and nothing will get me past the "Windows is starting up...." screen (the one you get right after the black Windows XP screen that comes up first). It just hangs there forever if I leave it up.

I don't have the resource CD with drivers. This Dell has XP Media Center Edition, and I don't have the OS CD either. I have XP Pro OS and Dell device and drivers CDs for other computers, but I was thinking they wouldn't do me any good on this one. Do you have any ideas how to get around this problem and get the thing back up so I can start on the malware removal?

I feel like if I could just get on the darn thing, your various removal tools will do the trick. If I can't get back on, then I'm thinking of the inevitable reformat and OS reinstall, but I wonder how can I even do that without the correct OS CDs. I can get drivers on the Dell site, and I have the XP product key on the CPU sticker, but I don't have the OS CD.

Anything you can suggest is appreciated!

Exactly what did you uninstall. And do you know why your PC was in selective startup mode. Like what was being disabled. This is unlikely to be a malware issue. Why were you actually running the READ & RUN ME? Besides getting slow were there any other problems. Slow PCs ( and exactly what was slow ) are often not due to malware.

You need a Window XP boot CD now to fix this. Your other option is a total reinstall from a Recovery CD or partition but you may loose certain data.
