I have exhausted all the methods i have found for capturing flash video from the internet. I have have used all the programs i can find for capturing video from the internet and none of them work with the certain video i want to capture. Is there any method out there that would allow me to capture video from any website not just an exclusive list of sites? I also must mention that I don't want to use screen capture and if possible would like to be able to be able to download multiple videos at a time. any suggestions?

p.s have you heard of webvideocap in theory it sounds like it would work for any flash video but for some reason I cant get it working for me, maybeee I am doing something wrong. any thoughts?

    thanks in advance

Have you tried the FF addon DownloadHelper? It gets just about any flash except those that require their own player ie. CNN, CBS, Comedy Central. Worth a try if you use FF.

    Good Luck :)

I was having the same problem a few days ago hockey3. Then someone here at MG (member Appzalien) recommended Download Helper and sach2 beat me to it. If you don't use Firefox, then this is one real good reason to start! I have used it download videos many times that none of the other video downloader type of programs would download. Here's the link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006 Scroll down that page a bit and read the description. If you don't already have Firefox, you can download it from this link here at Major Geeks.

thanks for the reply but i dont want to do a screen capture.

I will tell you what I need it for maybe that will help clarify things. I pay for a subscription based video site(not what ur thinking) but am not around an internet conection very ofter(on the road alot) so I would like to save a few at a time to my computer so I can watch when there is no internet connection around. I hope that clears thing up a bit and any suggestion are very appreciated.

Not a simple fix but you could try retrieving the video from your cache.

When you visit the site and allow the whole video to play in IE the flash animation is downloaded to C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files [It is a hidden folder but you can copy and paste the location into the address bar of Internet Explorer and edit the username and hit enter to open the folder.] Choose Details from the View menu and also Sort by "Last Modified". Your video should be one of the largest files in the top of the list.

wasn't in temporary internet files and i had a program to get it from the cache but that didn't work either. i can find the .sfw file in "page info" and can also download it, is that going to help my case?

    thanks for the suggestion btw

I would think it has to be somewhere on HD. I guess it's possible that some files wouldn't show up but I've never heard of an example. My instructions were for Internet Explorer. If you are using FF that would be a different location.

If you try sorting by size there isn't anything in the several (mb) size that even if not named as a video file might be a video file.

For instance in my Temp Files I found:

If I right-click and copy and then paste it to the desktop it appears as a wmv file.

How big is the SWF file? A few kbs or is it in mbs? If it is in mbs some players will play it. I'm sure VLC from videolan.org can play a swf that contains audio and video data.

Actually I just tried VLC on an SWF video file and it only played audio.

    KMP plays it fine.
