    AntiVirus

I am currently using Norton Internet security. Never really had much of a problem. After all my reading I have been thinking of going with Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. Then I read some people have been disapponited with this new version. Also was thinking about BitDefender. I would like some opinions on these 2 please.

Also, I read a couple of people who were using Norton Internet security 2009 who said it was much improved and not a drain on their system like previous versions. Any opinions?

    Spyware

Used spysweeper for a few years and it was good. Problem is recently on 2 different computers it starting freezing my computer either after booting up or after screen saver has been on for awhile. When I removed it everything was fine including my system running faster. So, I am looking for suggestions on a spyware program. I would like one that runs real time. Ones I have researched and are considering are:
    Counter Spy
    Super Antipyware
    Malwarebytes

By the way, I don't mind buying the programs and paying for service. It does not have to be free.

    Thanks
    David

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

You would get more feedback on a post like this in the Software Forum as only authorized malware fighters can post in this Malware Forum and we are busy removing malware.

In general we advise against any security suite type application because they are all resource hogs. You are better off installing separate programs and only install and antivirus, realtime antispyware blocker, and a real software firewall which the Windows firewall is not. You can add additional scan only programs to. All of this and more is covered in the below sticky thread posted in the forum:

How to Protect yourself from malware!

You will find that CounterSpy can also be quite resource hungry like Spy Sweeper. SUPERAntiSpyware (SAS) would be a better choice. Malwarebytes is good too but SAS has greater coverage and more features.
