annoying!!!!

I am having trouble lately when using notepad! I don't so much like word pad or anything else so the last thing I need right now is what's been happening.

I first noticed this happening a week ago, I constantly hit save after composing merely a few lines...it's a habit so i DO NOT FORGET to save!!

I get to the end of finishing whatever I have done in notepad after saving all the way thru typing out each bit of new info, and eventually close it down. Then typically for me I sit and think and realised] I need to add something or delete a little part of the info, change something round...and go to open up my text file again, and how very odd, it's a blank!! Nothing in then, zip, zilch...

I luckily found that closing the damn thing and re-opening it often accompanies a sigh of relief when I see all the info back where it should be again...everything there.

However this evening after composing out 2 hours worth of work...my notepad really IS empty despite the fact I saved a million times al the way thru making it :-D Horrible huh? I rebooted the machine with a "last straw" attempt...opened my text file up and nothing's there :cry

I DO have the info stored somewhere else...but that's not the point..what if I didn't??

What I would love to know is if anyone else has had this happen, or if someone knows why it's happening to me and can explain that would be great!

Well dammit ... Can you believe...AND I don't mind admittin' it, I did have a backup copy as mentioned, but after I looked with fresh eyes I saw that I not only had a back up copy, but that there was another copy of it on the desktop roflmao there STILL was that blank, but perhaps...who knows....i forgot and made 2, 1 empty one full (then the backup) Jeez, we were only talking about "goofy threads" a minute ago, i think this one could be one of the winners LOL

Those notepad alternatives look hot Just what I need, many thanks I am going to give 'em a whirl.

See...I'll always have a "dizzy" streak lol..

...ran into a few probs already (wouldn't ya know) lol The notepad++ app simply stopped me saving my text file after so many lines worth of work. I haven't had time to put it thru it's paces yet...and i'm back to good old fashioned notepad for now....

 

Now this is odd...I too poked about in the settings, but I couldn't find anything about size...but the point is, I was looking at the file it wouldn't let me save again earlier since I'd added more text..but just now it DID :-D little glitch...or a case of PEBKAC it could be either one....lol
