Make your own don’t be lazy ;)

    Rich Eggnog!

    6 Large eggs
    3/4 c Sugar
    1 1/2 c Brandy
    1/2 c Rum
    4 c Milk
    4 c Cream
    1/2 c Icing sugar
    Nutmeg to sprinkle

Separate the yolks from the whites of the eggs. Beat the yolks slowly while simultaneously adding the sugar; do this until the mixture is pale and golden. Now slowly add in the brandy and rum, then beat in the milk and half the cream.
Set aside until just before serving, then whisk the egg whites until stiff and fold them into the eggnog mixture. Whip the remaining cream and icing sugar until thick. Top each glass of eggnog with whipped cream and a shake of nutmeg this yields eight servings.

I am lazy! Twist off the top, add a bit of nutmeg and enjoy!

Try some Brandy instead of the Rum. Very smoothe..

Would love to try some with Cognac! Maybe a VSOP, now that is a high dollar 'nog!

Ick. The whole idea of a drink made with egg yolks is just downright nasty to me.

lol...I knew that in theory it was 'eggs', but seeing that recipe just solidified my view.

Tell me about it. I'm allergic to eggs - so that is particularly nasty to me, unless I want end up in hospital! :puke

    for LauraR and Phanton

No egg eggnog but you are not getting alcohol it does not mix well with the pudding :p

    8 cups milk
1 3 oz package of French Vanilla Instant pudding
    1/2 cup sugar
    2 tsp vanilla
    1/2 tsp of nutmeg

In a large bowl, mix the pudding with 1 cup of the milk. When pudding is formed, add in the remaining ingredients and mix very well. Chill.

And a special one for all the children

    4 eggs
    6 tablespoons sugar
5 1/2 cups fresh orange juice, chilled
    1/2 cup lemon juice
    1 quart vanilla ice cream
    1 quart ginger ale, chilled

Beat the eggs and the sugar until light (no separation necessary here). Stir in the orange and the lemon juice. Place small scoops of vanilla ice cream in the punch bowl. Pour the ginger ale against the sides (inside, of course) of the bowl (this is done to preserve as much of the carbonation as possible). Add the orange juice picture slowly, stirring gently. Serve immediately. This will make about 30 servings.

Health experts be humped by rabid weasels, the yolk is the best part of the egg. Especially from real farm chickens, not the wire cage factory chickens. Or the 'free range' birds.

Bah! A little egg won't hurt you! Unless you are allergic.:-D And proper eggnog has alchohol in it.;) Neat recipes though chaimjm.

Of course, if you knew what went on in a lot of the kitchens around the world, you would not eat out. A little raw egg is nothing!

What about Mincemeat Pie? Thankfully it's not made that way here, now that sounds like a real yucko to me

Every year we (Dan and I ) buy eggnog and never get around to drinking it, think we should pass on buying it this year, huh?

Going on a recent thread, I have to say eggnog has to be the American equivalent of marmite. You either love it or hate it. I love marmite; I hate eggnog. Just the thought and smell and I'm gagging all the way to the kitchen sink.

Not sure, Kes, but it may be. If you look at the recipe, the base for it is egg yoke. It's a yellow creamy drink. lol...and like Lev, just thinking of it is sort of a *gag* moment.

American Eggnog and Advocaat (Dutch Eggnog) are very different, especially in consistency and texture, Emms.

So what is in the bottle Oldandconfused?

Chaimjm, egg in a glass does not look tasty.

Darlene Have I drank it yet? Heck yeah! Just a couple of small glasses. Stuff has a lot of fat in it. Gotta keep my svelte look!:p

I can't believe so many of you don't like eggnog! Probably don't believe in The Great Pumkin either. :-D

Darlene! This is Fred_G and drinking! I don't mix, shake, stir or anything like that. Too freaking lazy. :-D

The pre-mixed with the brandy is the way to go. 10% alchohol, smoothe, nice tasting, doesn't get you too looped to quikly. (type that 10 times in a row.):-D
