weird websites

    Hi Speculant

    What some website admins and alot of spammers/malware folk do is to play on the fact that everyone mistypes at times, so they choose popular sites and use common mystypes to create a website in which in some cases its harmless but in others they are made out to look like the legit site to dupe some users who are not used to the legit site to download what they think is legit but is infact malware.

    Was a few years ago IIRC a slightly mistypes site that resembled MGs want harmful but was cashing in on clickthoughs via adverts.


    Have to be massively careful in what you click on on many of these sites.

    Yep...that's why I've heard you should always do a search for the site in a search engine rather than typing in the URL

    Or bookmark the one you know is legit.

    That's a fact. I ended up at MajoGeeks, once upon a time. :-D
    I basically only use bookmarks now.
