Football is simple. Pass or run the ball until you get to the last line on the field. Touch down!

Yeh but there's so many stupid little rules, and it seems ok to beat each other up too?!?!?!
Cricket is easy to follow, if you're bowling - try to hit the wickets, if you're batting - try to hit the ball as far as possible!

Hey, you're trying to explain Cricket to a guy who obviously can't even edit a post properly, without double posting it. LOL

Beating each other up isn't legal, but tackling a guy hard enough to severe his spine or give him a concussion is a good hit. :-D

And when I bowl, I try to hit the pins.roflmao

BTW, who won that game between the Chargers and the Saints? Been without TV or internet for a few days.

lol...seems to me that football is very close to rugby in the beating up department.

You want to see a bizarre sport....Curling. Apparently the Canadians love that one. :-D

BTW...now that this thread has gone way off topic:

@Halo...honestly, I didn't know anyone but the US actually watched NFL. And had No idea it was televised over there. Glad to see others enjoy it. It really is a fun game. It's mostly on on Sundays, so it's not a lot of time you have to invest in watching it each week. A lot of people here plan their Sunday's around it even. LOL

BTW they're called stones, not rocks. LOL

And as far as football goes. I am still reeling from the University of Michigan's loss to Michigan State .:cry

Kinda was more popular back in the late 90s in the UK when our Channel4 decided to televise it, downside is that if live games are shown they are around 22:00/23:00 and as we all know they can last a few hours so not easy to watch if you have work the next day....

I did watch it most weeks when "The Fridge" played for the Chicago Bears and Dan Marino was at the Dolphins, but then for some reason it dropped off UK TV, seems to be making an appearence again, actually UK football could take a leaf out of the American game and make it a family day out over... watch game, get angry at the ref, curse or herald your team depending on result, have the odd fight then get drunk down the pub!

I not a great fan of UK Football, too many inconsistancies in refereeing to may it not enjoyable for me anyways, enjoy the World and European Cup type games, but home games not so much, prefer motor sports.

They should televise it again. I would think they could easily play it during your normal hours the next day. I can't imagine you get much coverage for it in your papers so it really wouldn't be ruining it for people.

haha....so basically they were playing it when the 'celebrity' players were still in the league. Sort of like your soccer's Beckman. They were players everyone knew even if they weren't part of your team....particularly the Chicago Bears (they did a music vid that was somewhat entertaining:-D)

*snort* You pretty much have the whole day narrowed down with that one quote roflmao

I've actually heard that complaint, along with one about players faking being hurt...which leads to some sort of penalty! (I can't remember what it was) People take their UK football seriously there though!

It is starting albiet slowly on a newish channel called FiveUS and as well as showing many US tv series, soaps it shows US sport from Football, to NASCAR, a few days or a week behind the actual live event.

Next US sport event and it will be shown in UK tv live is on 4th Nov :)

Yes exactly, I still even have a Dolphins and Bears US football shirt as I was a fan of the game at that time and those where the two teams I supported somewhat.

forgot a line which is, get kabab and chips, stagger home, trip over cat and get thumped by partner/wife, passout.

Yes they do its what spoilt the game for me which is why I believe that the US system in american footbal of multiple refs and video playback of incident, while will slow the game down but may make it enjoyable as its fairer! Yes football is taken really seriously and in some respects and for some its an obsession. Its a great game just spoiled by overpayed premadonnas, and lack of consistancey in refeereing and by the fans of differening teams having the occasional fight, some are really nasty which has given the English fans a bad name abroad, although some Euro teams fans are just as bad.

Which is why i think make it like the US game an all day event for the family, may quieten the bad side of the game down and bring families together a bit more with a common interest.
