Copy from old drive to new drive

I have installed a new 500gb drive, replacing my old 120gb drive. I want to copy everything off "old C" to the new drive, so that it will be my boot drive. What is the easiest and fastest way to do this. I tried Acronis clone function, but it insists on creating an extra partition, and using Acronis backup and then restoring that backup is adding extra steps. I just want to copy, like the old DOS xcopy.

Didn't your new drive come with a utility disk? Often they have drive cloning utilities on them. The last time I used one though I first tried cloning the old drive to the new from a DOS Boot and it was taking too long, so I then formated out the new drive again and this time I started the system with the old drive, and used the disks utility to clone the drive to the new one from within Windows and it was fast.

What brand of drive is it and is it IDE or Sata? I forgot that if you buy an OEM drive online, you get the drive and thats it. But if you order the retail version, you get the box and all the goodies with it in most cases.

 

And if you bought an OEM drive, you can usually get the software goodies from the manufacturer's website.
