This movie looks truly amazing, in my opinion. The combination of David Fincher as director and Brad Pitt as leading man is just destined to be great, and the trailer looks absolutely gorgeous:

An interesting premise. And different, which is always an unusual thing. I hadn't heard of it or seen the trailer, which is odd since Brad Pitt is in it (who is, as far as I'm concerned, one of the hottest actors out there).

It reminds me of the George Carlin bit "My Next Life".

    MY NEXT LIFE
    By George Carlin

I want to live my next life backwards:

You start out dead and get that out of the way

Then you wake up in a nursing home feeling better every day.

Then you get kicked out for being too healthy.

Enjoy your retirement and collect your pension.

Then when you start work, you get a gold watch on your first day.

You work 40 years until you're too young to work.

You get ready for High School: drink alcohol, party, and you're generally promiscuous.

Then you go to primary school, you become a kid, you play, and you have no responsibilities.

Then you become a baby, and then...

You spend your last 9 months floating peacefully in

luxury, in Spa-like conditions - central heating, room service on tap, and then ...

You finish off as an orgasm.

    I rest my case

Yeah, they're really not selling it on Brad Pitt's name -- which I can actually really get behind. I think it's easy to think of him as a pretty face (and, um, is he ever) but then discount his acting abilities, which is to do him a serious disservice.

I love the George Carlin thing! I'd never read that before. It's such a mind bender to imagine life that way, really. I think what I love best about the Ben Button trailer is the flashes we see of the women in his life (Cate Blanchett + Tilda Swinton) at various ages, and how for just this brief moment they meet in the middle and are the same age... it just looks really heart-stopping to me.

Yep...I think I'll probably check it out when it is released.

Have you ever read The Time Traveler's Wife?

Sort of the same idea for the woman... he is a different age at different times in her life...and so is she. Just a really interesting premise.

I have read Time Traveler's Wife! I absolutely loved it (cried my eyes out too :cry) and that's a big part of why this movie looks so good to me. I mean there are tons of stories about the historical/scientific implications of time travel, but the romantic aspect is less touched on.

What an interesting looking movie, Rikky... I'd never heard of it, and I love seeing movies I've never heard of. I'll have to Netflix it. I like Brad Pitt's acting a lot too, personally, though I mean everyone has their right to an opinion. ;) And I think it's common for people to dislike specific actors and just really be unable to appreciate them in different roles because of that bias/opinion/whatever. But have you seen Fight Club? Brad Pitt was actually working with the same director in that movie as he is in Ben Button, and Fight Club is one of my all time favorite movies, so that's another reason to keep an eye on this movie.

Hehe about five times:-DI love it,the first time I watched it me and my friend got a few beers rented it expecting to see a mediocre fighting movie and ending up seeing one of the greatest movies ever made, really makes you question the materialistic world we live in and the twist is probably the greatest twist in cinema history.

Its great when a movie takes you totally by surprise, like the best nights of your life always seem to be unplanned:-D

Oh man, I was exactly the same way. I don't generally go for the violent type of movie, but my roommate insisted that I HAD to see it (and, thankfully, did not tell me why) and so I did, and I was completely blown away. So, basically, I'm now a Fincher fan for life, and if he can get even a fraction of the same performance out of Brad Pitt in Ben Button as he got in Fight Club, it's going to be an insanely good film.
