    Hello all,

I am trying to uninstall Lotus Smart Suite. It asks me for the disc which I do not have. Is there another way around this.

I went to the Lotus support center and they have no uninstall info available that I can find.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards,
    Jeb

You could try Revo Uninstaller, first, at http://www.majorgeeks.com/Revo_Uninstaller_d5706.html

If that doesn't work, until someone comes along with a more correct method, as a last resort, you can simply delete the entire Folder and its contents.

Not a recommended way, but a last resort. Then run :-
    CCleaner at http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4191.html
    Cleanup! at http://www.majorgeeks.com/CleanUp_d4895.html
and Advanced Windows Care v2 at http://www.majorgeeks.com/Advanced_WindowsCare_v2_Personal_d4991.html

These 3 will remove nearly all traces of incorrectly removed programs, as well as clean out most traces of Net rubbish accumulated each session.

I use all 3 daily. They don't conflict with each other, and each finds stuff the other 2 miss. Hope this helps. Bazza

    Thanks Kestrel and Bigbazza,

I actually went back to the support site and found the info on the clean install.

I followed the procedures to remove but it still come up in my add and remove programs. It doesn't appear to be anywhere else that I can tell.

Now I just need to figure out how to cleanup my start up menu. I have no idea what is safe to shut down and what is not. Is there anyway to get a log of my start up to post here?

    Thanks again for the help,
    Jeb

    Do you have Ccleaner installed?

Open up Ccleaner > go to "tools" > start-up and take a screenshot of what is there. Upload to us here and one of us will take a look

Revo, selecting #4 clean up option, will usually remove all traces.
Beware, it is a very powerful program and make sure you read what all 4 options do.

I use it quite often, with #4 run, and recommend it. Bazza

Open CCleaner and in the left column, click on Tools. In the window that opens, there are two buttons uninstall and startup.
When you want to remove something that you have already uninstalled and you are sure it has been removed except for the listing here, highlight the program and click either the run uninstaller and then the delete entry button if it tells you it has already been uninstalled. That will remove the entry.

Make sure you have Ccleaners start up window open, (tools > startup)
    • Press Prt Scr > open up paint (start > all programs > accessories > paint)
    • Once in Paint , go EDIT > PASTE> Save as startup.PNG to your desktop or somewhere for easy retrieval for when you upload it to the forum

we should have maybe started a new thread as we are finished with the lotus smart suite stuff...but no worries...

WE don't disable start up entries with MSCONFIG or Ccleaner, the better method to go for controlling start up's would be to download a start up manager such as start up CPL

Then once you have this installed we can loose some of the start up items you dont need using this application.

    Ok Kestrel,

It is down loaded and I am ready for more of your infinite wisdom to do what ever tweaks you deem necessary.

Should I start a new thread? I thought about that just before you mentioned it in your last post. I can If you would like but it sounded like we could just take care of it in this one.

Have I said thank you for your help and expertise yet.

If not thanks a gazillion bunch.

No need to start a new thread, if a mod sees this and decides it needs moving then that will be good enough.

I'm taking a look at your startups, but I am getting ready for bed soon as it's 2.35am here in the UK, but not to worry there are alot of others here who can help you out if I dash off before you do.

    Cheers
    Kes :)

CTFMON.exe is not needed unless you use 'alternative input methods/languages' in MS Office but to properly remove it you must follow this MS Support Article carefully:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282599

MSMSGS is Windows Messenger, not to be confused with Windows Live Messenger. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of pop ups and if you do not use it is is highly wise to disable/remove it by using this script here:

    Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger

    SpybotS&D Teatimer...This should be kept

OOPCTFW is of course your firewall, PCTools and it's start up entry should be kept

Adobe Reader Speed Launcher... this you can disable from start up

    OOTHotKey
...I can't find specific info on but it seems to relate to hotkeys and Toshiba..ask others for info on this

    AdaptecDirect CD
    Apoint ...
So, if you use the pointing software keep this entry..if not disable it.

So there's a few to keep you going...:)

Do I still need to use cc to make the changes in the startup? I can't find the cpl program on my computer? I assume it is sort of another process to startup smoother/faster.

    Ok ok,

I found the program in the control panel.

Thank you for all the help and any added help as to what I don't need running would be appeciated.

    Regards,
    Jeb

No, as you already found out startup CPL is located thru it's applet in the control panel. Do stick to using this and not Ccleaner to control the start up's...we just use Ccleaner's tools > start-up list to do the initial screenshots :)

I shall look thru the rest of what is in your list and let you know. Anything I am unsure of I will leave to someone else.
