Hi, all. A little trouble here.

When I type the domain name of one of my websites into the browser (IE - same for all), it goes to the login page for my modem (cable). My other site works fine, and it doesn't seem to be a port forwarding issue, although I'm not certain.

Everything on my server seems to look the same as the other site, but I'm not certain I know what I'm looking for.

    Thanks,
    7

I've seen this problem before using DSL, download, install and run CCleaner 2.13.720 . Leave it to the default settings when running. This will clean junk files from your system.

Well, I don't know how that stopped the route to my modem, but it did. It then gave me the 403 error...which led me to reset permissions.

When that didn't work, I noticed that my default page was .htm instead of html. A simple remove and add, and my new site is up. =)

    Thanks, bjgarrick.

As it seems, the exact problem has returned. I has only been about 6-8 hours or so.

Ran CCleaner again - same as before, double checked settings....now stuck again.:confused

    Try this

Open a command window (type cmd into the run box)

type in one line at a time and give things time to finish each step.

    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /flushdns
    ipconfig /renew
    ping 127.0.0.1
    ping 209.131.36.158

If all this works try to ping your faulty webpage.

    exit.

This didn't seem to work, although it was neat...heh. I ended up doing a quick recheck of a permission box regarding parent/child things, and that put me back online - crazy.

    Thank you studiot. =)

Holy crap! It's doing it again. I tried doing the same permissions things again, and it did not work this time.

Do I need to run those commands on both my server and my task computer?

What permissions thing are you talking about? When and were are you getting a message about permissions?

Is it possible your connection is dropping? I have seen that cause the issue you're talking about.

The permissions on my server (Win Server 2003). I have replaced permission entries ie iis > system, admin, users > read & execute, etc... I would like to talk more about it, but I only know certain terms. I can answer any question if it's specific.

I'm definiately not losing connection at any point.

It would really help analyse things if you gave us a description of your sytems.

How many computers do you have?
    What are their operating systems?
    Where do the errors occur?
Where is your DHCP located? In the router or your server?
Are any of the IP addresses set up as static?
How is the IP set up on each pc?
Confirm you are using IIS as a webserver on internet or intranet?

It would be useful to yourself for future reference as well if you typed all this information into a word or text document and also posted this document here.
