Using Vista OS ... trying to upgrade from Office Pro Enterprise 2003 to Office Small Business 2007. Error message reads "setup can't find a version of MS Office on your computer" ... gives a choice to browse for location of previous files. No matter where I direct the install to look, I get this message "the path you have chosen does not point at a qualifying upgrade product".

Not only is this annoying (been working on and searching all of MS Support site for over a week) nothing in MS support gives any helpful fixes. Wouldn't be too hacked if I hadn't spent $$ on the upgrade, but everything the package says it's compatable with I have (Works ver 7.0, Office 2000 Pro, 2003, etc).

Any ideas, links fixes I haven't tried?

    Hi

Do you have the original CD/DVD media for Office 2003? if so then at the point of the Office 2007 upgrade where its asking for qualifying media, click browse and direct it to your CD drive with the Office 2003 disk in, once its registered your pevious version as ok, take out and replace with the 2007 upgrade.

Also make sure you're logged in on the admin account.

Anotherthing is that if on the original install of Office 2003 you allowed the installer to copy the office installer files to your HD, they maybe still their and could allow you to access them as part of the qualifying section of the install, need to unhide files though ( in any folder click Organize then Folder and Search options > View and then click Show hiden files and folders and apply )

This is location of the Office MSO files C:\MSOCache

Ok Halo ... logged on as administrator
Ran the drill ... 2000 disk didn't work, 2003 didn't work and MSOCache yielded nothing.
One of the MS support articles required the deletion of a *.lck (?.lch?) which, when I did that nothing happened (good or bad) ... the file never regenerated.

Open to other ideas - please!
