My friend was hit by a car and was airlifted to a hospital. I heard so many stories already. Right now he is either dead or in a coma.(

I just found out his condition, and I wish I had better news. He has extensive brain damage and his legs are destroyed.:cry

Sorry to hear this sad news of yours zdawg. Prayers going up for you, him and his family and friends.

I remember when my own son was going through this for the first time at about the same time in life that you are at. He lost a friend due to meningitis, and struggled because he had never told that friend how much his friendship meant him before he got sick. From that he learned the immense value of good friends and moving forward decided to make sure his close friends knew how much he cared about them on a regular basis. Now years on, he has 2 very loyal close friends who he trusts, and has made sure he lets them know how much their friendship means to him.

The lessons are always hard, but maybe you too can gain something from your friend's unfortunate accident that will go on to enrich your life in the future :)

It got worse. He is braindead, and they are going to pull the plug later today.

Sorry to hear about your friend. I've had a few friends of mine pass away within the last 4 years. None were of natural causes, and none were above the age of 20. It's definitely not easy to think about, and impossible to completely get over. Stay strong for his family.

His family is messed up right now. His mom was 2 hours from home when he got hit. She never even got a chance to say goodbye.:cry

Always a sad thing to lose a friend suddenly like that, I hope his parents do the right thing and let him live on elsewhere.

Sorry again, z. Are they going to have a service you will be able to go to?

It's always nice for the parents/family to have people pay their respects.

How sad, even knowing it's coming is still a shock as I'm sure it was for you. You not only feel bad for the loss but it makes you think of your own mortality, that can be depressing and scary. Don't avoid it, talk.
Try to focus on him as a person, things he did , said, was he funny, goofy, kind. Also talk to him. if you get a thought back in your mind it may possibly be him.
I will say a prayer for his parents to get through this worse of all possible times.

The wake is today and tommorrow. I would like to pay my respects but I can't. I just really can't do it. It is so depressing. I really don't want my last memory of him to be a bad one :'(

You do whatever your heart tells you to do...if you don't feel comfortable about attending the wake then that's okay...you might just find if you did attend, it could help you though. Either way it's very obvious how much you cared about your friend just from what we've seen you write here.

    Peace :wave

I don't do funerals either. Made the casket piece for my grandmothers service but never went. I'm sure she understood. They aren't in there any more anyway.

I didnt go but my mom went. She said his face was destroyed. His eyes and lips were bulging. After he was hit he flew 40 feet in the air.

They had an open casket and he looked that bad?

Well, I'm sure his mom appreciated your mom going. I can definitely understand not wanting to go.

Yeah, I was thinking, "why did they have an open casket" ?

Will probably make your mom a little more cautious with you guys now for a while.
