I can't wait to get my hands on this phone and chuck my current phone out the window while driving down the freeway at 80mph. :-D

Anyone else waiting on the release of this new BB device?

You're not my wife in disguise are you? ;)

I need a new phone badly. I have already missed 4 business calls today because my current 3yr old phone didn't bother to ring or vibrate or anything when the calls came in. It did beep sometime later to alert me I had missed some calls.

Thank you phone fairy, may I have another?...

    Sweetheart? Is that you???

    :-D

The Blackberrys look like they've come down in price. Too much competition I guess. Not sure what the price for the Storm was though.

They have this one at 199.99 with 2yr agreement. I have some additional discounts so it will be less. I gotta call CS today and see how my phone plan is going to change.

My current calling plan has plenty of minutes, but it's so old they don't offer it anymore. I just want to ad BIS service on top of my plan. Hopefully I can do that, if not I will be haggling on the phone with them until they cave and discount a new plan for me ;)

I wanted one, but...I've been reading some disturbing quality issues on a vodafone forum, which as you may know, already has the storm out.

Of course, we see these with all phones, and seeing that Apple is now dealing with a class action lawsuit regarding hairline cracks in iPhones, it may mean nothing or something.

Let us know your thoughts when you get it. It might be a redeeming factor for touchscreen phones. Once the novelty wore off with my Dare....I flipping hate touchscreens now. You can't dial without looking, you can't see them in the sun, which sucks to make a call, and anything thats on your hands, is now on the phone. Nothing like a smudgy, sticky, dirty screen on a phone to hamper your productivity. I've resorted to carrying a micro fiber cloth with my phone, which is retarded in itself.

The Storm will come with a SIM card, btw ;)

Yes agreed Adryn, they get mucky as hell, look great when clean, I keep my iPhone in an iPod Sock, gets some funny looks, but keeps the hone warm in winter :)

No feel is what I dont like, click a button and not sense in your fingers that you pressed anything, still like it to for GPS Google Mapping, Email and Internet, SMS is a waste of space, no forwarding!! I ask you!

Undecided on this phone. It looks great, but £40 a month is the only tariff and it's Vodafone. May just stick with a cheapy until I can find what's best for me.

Well, it's on a truck and should hit tomorrow or by wednesday at the latest. I got to play with one in the store on friday of last week, it was pretty nice. Going to take a few minutes to get use to the touch screen and figure out what apps to load, but should be miles ahead of the Razr v3c i've been using for 2+ years now.

    :-D

Thats a plus in the iPhone and the provider O2 we have in UK in that unlimited data is included (yes with fair usage clause) even on the lowest tarrif of £30 a month, does not included roaming data though, out now as Pay n Go version where monthly unlimited data and WiFi* for 1st 12mths is free and included then it is £10 a month plus your topups for calls and SMS (phone one off charge is £349 and £399 though).

*O2 network has a large city wide WiFi hotspot service and teamed up IIRC with BT a while back who have WiFi in many public call boxes so a large-ish network now.

Well I received it tonight and activated it. Unfortunately we are taking a family trip tomorrow and I gotta get packed and get the kids scrubbed and in bed. Hopefully I can play with it more tonight and really test drive it over the next few days.

So far I am impressed. Screen quality is amazing! Going to take some getting used to though lol. Its a whole different world when all the buttons are missing from your phone :-D

I'm curious as to how my favorite apps will work with the Storm - Viigo, Google Maps mobile (and Tele Atlas maps :-D), TwitterBerry, etc.. keep us posted!

Well I still haven't had a ton of time to spend with the phone, but I am impressed so far. The voice quality on calls is excellent! Which was a bit surprising.

So far I have only used preloaded apps on the phone, Windows Live Messenger, Facebook, BB Browser.

    WLM - works great

Facebook - works pretty good but is kind of scaled down from the PC Web version. Yeah yeah, I had a friend talk me into joining Facebook and it's all downhill from there. :p

Internet Browser - Works almost exactly like a PC Browser. Connection is pretty darn fast, pages are easy to navigate and the zoom feature makes it a breeze to read web pages.

The phone comes with a HD movie trailer for Babylon AD and looks and sounds amazing. It's a shame when the screen on your phone has a better picture than your TV at home lol. They did a nice job on the speaker. There are a few tabs that stick out about 1/16th of an inch by the speaker to elevate the phone a bit. Pretty good sound for a tiny little speaker.

Things that are a little akward and hopefully will be fixed with an OS update.

When answering the phone, you pick up the phone and it switches to landscape view, you press the onscreen button and the phone switches to portrait view but doesn't answer the call. Press the on screen button again and if you get lucky you catch the call, otherwise just stick to the normal green key and you'll be fine. It's only an issue with the touch screen at the moment.

Something else that is a little bit frustrating. When you are browsing the net in landscape mode, the phone changes modes and the screen gets really bright, which for blind people like myself makes reading a snap. Portrait view on the other hand is dim and can make browsing some what difficult.

SurePress typing is a snap when the phone isn't lagging. What I mean by this is for a few days now typing has been no issue at all once you get used to the press and click interface. For some reason today there was a horrible lag when typing. So much so that I had to wait a few seconds inbetween keys to make sure I was spelling the words right. Anyway, no big deal, it cleared up after about 20 mins.

I haven't setup the BB Email address as of yet, still trying to come up with a username for it, but that's next on the agenda.

Also hoping Viigo comes out of Beta soon for the Storm. Looks like a top notch app that I could actually use.

Missing the days when a telephone was just a phone. There was a time I golfed on Sundays, just to get away from the phone. Needless to say, I haven't been golfing in over 15 years.
