worm.win32.netbooster fixed but still problems

    Awhile back I had gotten attacked by worm.win32.netbooster. A friend of mine sent me a link to download SmitfraudFix.zip located at that time from <http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip>

    I downloaded and folloed the instructions and it weems to have gotten rid of the actual worm or whatever it's called. Very happy with that.

    Problem is that it seems to have left me with a problem I really would like to have fixed. I can't see my C: or D: Drive in my windows explorer. I also can't see them in My Computer. I use Windows 200 Pro and when I click on start and settings all I can see is Taskbar & Start Menu where I use to be able to access my control panel and printers. Non of which I can access now.

    I don't know what else to say except does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to get all this back? I have reinstalled windows and that didn't work. I was tinking about un-installing windows and reinstalling from scratch but the program that I think will un-install it "wnUninstall" does not work.

    Sure could use some help with this.

    If you have really reinstalled Windows then your problems are not malware related.

    Huh???? You don't uninstall Windows. You just delete your partitions, recreate partitions, format and reinstall. But you already said you reinstalled so I'm not sure what you are talking about. wnUninstall is the uninstaller for NEWS 3 NOW.

    Anyway we can check your PC for malware if you wish, please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.



    READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
