Convert animated GIF to ICO without downloading anything

If you have the right software, you can do anything.

What do you want to use the ICO file for? That determines the size you resize to.

On the Majorgeeks.com page is a small MG, here on the forums it is the VBulletin icon.

I think the Start Button on Ubuntu is 32x32

IIRC, you already have Irfanview installed? If so, it will handle both formats. Just open the .gif, resize to your preferences then save as an .ico.

 

just did, not animated. I have my avatar as a gif and i want to convert it to an animated ICO

 

Didn't realize you were trying to use an animated gif. In that case, I'm not sure of how you would do it. Animated ico's are something I would never even consider for myself. :eek

For future reference and/or if you aren't set on having an animation and wanted to use just one frame of your current animation; you can export the frames as individual images in irfanview and pick the one you want to use.

 

GIMP might do it. I'm not certain though. I know it'll edit .ico's. Let me check.

No. It will edit Icons though. You'll probably have to have Photoshop.
