accessing 192.168.1.1

When i put that in to access this router live search takes me to a search page. I am trying to access this router so i can get the wep key to setup a laptop to it but this desktop is being a pain. its a Westell Model 327W and this desktop is a dell dim 2400 running windows xp

 

are you typing it into the browser or the search?

 

try this : go to start>run>type cmd> type ipconfig >under default gateway note that ip address> use that ip address and see if it will let you login

 

ive had that happen to me a few times. it was either on IE and i switched to ff and it worked, or the other way around. either that, or unplugging your modem from your router might work. maybe even try putting it in your favorites and try to access it that way... im really not sure why that happens either, but let me know because id like to know as well. just some ideas i had on stuff to try.
if your firewall isnt off, try that too.

 

I got it sorted i hooked the laptop to the router with a cable and accessed it and seen my mistake in the key. btw i was typing it in the address bar but the way ff and ie work now when you type something there it uses it as a search bar too also this wireless router is also the modem hint westell

 

I'm not very experienced with this stuff, but when I use just my ethernet modem I have to input my gateway and subnet,etc. When I installed my router I had to set everything to set the gateway and subnet automatically and use wht it set.

 

ah right on. so you were trying to access it wireless and you didnt have the correct key or something? and yeah, i kinda figured you knew to put the ip in the address bar.
